Abstract/ Executive Summary:

One CIP clones LB 6 (393280.64) along with two popular variety BARl Alu-7 (Diamant), BARIA/u• 8 (Cardinal) were evaluated against late blight disease of potato under field condition at Joydebpur, Jessore, Burirhat, Bogra, Jamalpur and Munshiganj during 2013-14 cropping season in RYT. Combined analysis was done to see the genotype location interaction. The significant influence was observed of different environmental factor of different locations on the expression of different characters of potato as well as late blight incidence. The highest genotypes mean tuber yield at 90 DAP over the locations was highest in LB-6 (29.60 t/ha) and lowest in BARl Alu-? (22.54 t/ha).Bolh the check varieties BARl Alu-7 and BARl Alu-8 produced significantly lower tuber yield at 90 DAP. At 90 DAP late blight infection was high in two check varieties BAR! Alu-7 and BARI Alu-S, in some cases 100% foliage damage occurred. On the other hand Late blight infection was very less in LB-6 (2 to 12.5%). Farmers showed their positive reaction about LB-6. Considering yield & late blight reaction for five years the CIP clone LB-6 could be released as late blight resistant 'f'2£iety

Objectives:

TO EVALUATE THE RYT OF LATE BLIGHT RESISTANT CIP POTATO GERM PLASM

Methodology:

Two CIP clones were evaluated for late blight resistant at six locations namely, Tuber Research Centre (TCRC), Joydebpur; Agricultural Research Station (ARS), Burirhat, Rangpur; Tuber Crops Research Sub-Center, (TCRSC), Bogra; Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Jamalpur and Jessore; and Tuber Crops Research Sub-Center (TCRSC), Munshiganj. The CIP clones included in the late blight trial were LB-6 (393280.64) and BARI Alu-7 (Diamant) and BARl Alu-S (Cardinal) was used as check. The experiment was laid out with plant spacing was of 60 cm x 25 em and the plot sizeof 3.0 m X 3.0 m in RCB design with 4 replications. The date of planting was between 20.11.2011 to 27.11.11 for all location. Fertilizers were applied @ 325-220-250-120 kg/ha ofUrea, TSP, MP and Gypsum, respectively. Full amount of TSP, MP and Gypsum and 50% of urea were applied as basal and the remaining amount of urea was side dressed at 35 DAP. Weeding, irrigation, earthing-up and other intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. No fungicide was used in the trial. Late blight data were taken on percent foliage infection visually under natural condition. Two farmers field trial was to observe the actual performance and farmer's recation. The crop was evaluated by by NSB (National Seed Board) team by two times at 65 DAP and 90 OAP. The crop was harvested at the time of evaluation by the NSB team. At 65 DAP (Days after Planting) two line per plot and rest at 90 OAP were harvested in presence of them. Data on yield, yield contributing characters and tuber grading were taken and combined analysis was done over location and their means were .ompared by DMRT by using computer based statistical software MSTA T C. Average mean of tuner grading percent by number and weight was computed over six locations. Tuber characters were also coilected as per DUS Descriptor/Catalogue. Late blight incidence was also collected.

Achievement/Findings:

Results of the present study clearly indicated eIP clone LB-6 produced the higher yield than check both check varieties. Moreover, skin color, flesh color and shape of the potatoes were good and remarkable in LB-6 at northern part of Bangladesh. So, the CIP clones LB-6 could be advanced to release as variety.
