Performance Evaluation of Nerica-1 and Nerica-10 Along with a Local Aus Cv. Mousar Under Deficit Irrigation Condition

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Seeds of NERICA-1 and NERICA-10 along with a local aus cv. Mousar were sown following dibbling method at BINA farm, Mymensingh on 12 February 2012. The experiment followed RCB design with three replications. It appears that the local Aus cv. Mousar had significantly higher yield, 142% and 107% more yield than NERICA-1 and NERICA-10, respectively, under dry seeding and deficit irrigation conditions and also matured 2 days earlier. This higher yield of Mousar was attributed to its significantly higher effective tiller number and lower unfilled grains panicle^-1.

Objectives:

To evaluate the performance of NERICA-1 and NERICA-10 along with a local aus cv. Mousar under deficit irrigation condition.

Methodology:

Seeds of NERICA-1 and NERICA-10 along with a local aus cv. Mousar were sown following dibbling method at BINA farm, Mymensingh on 12 February 2012. The experiment followed RCB design with three replications. Five sprouted seeds were sown on dry soil in holes at 15 cm distances within rows of 20 cm apart. The length of each row was 3.0 m and the number of rows plot^-1 was 3. Recommended doses of fertilizers were applied. Three flood irrigations were applied at 8, 18 and 23 days after sowing (DAS). Data on plant height, number of effective tiller, panicle length, and filled and unfilled grains panicle^-1were recorded. Maturity was recorded variety basis while plant height, effective tiller number, panicle length and filled and unfilled grains panicle^-1 were recorded from 5 randomly selected hills in each plot at harvest. Finally, the recorded data were subjected to proper statistical analysis.
