The study was undertaken to find out appropriate nutrient requirement in the diet through comparison of nutrient requirement and intake of nutrients among five categories of Black Bengal Goat (BBG) at the Government goat development Farm, Sylhet, Bangladesh. One hundred (100) Black Bengal goats of either sex based on body weight were randomly selected and grouped into five categories (category 1: 2.5-4.5 kg, category 2: 4.6-6.5 kg, category 3: 6.6-8.5 kg, category 4: 8.6-10.5 kg and category 5: 10.6- 12.5kg) having twenty numbers of Black Bengal goats in each category. The average live weights of five categories of BBG were 4.68, 6.44, 8.39, 10.25 and 12.15 kg, respectively. Goats were supplied equal amount of Napier grasses and concentrate feed mixture twice daily. The chemical composition of Napier grass and concentrated feed mixture were determined by AOAC method. DM intake was less than the requirements. ME intake in category 1 was less than the requirement (610.9 kcal per day) but the category 2, 3, 4 and 5 were higher than the requirements. TDN intake in category 1 was less than the requirement (169.8 g per day) but the category 2, 3, 4 and 5 were higher than the requirements. The total CP intakes of all the categories of Black Bengal goats were higher than the requirements. BBG at Government Goat Development farm, Sylhet, Bangladesh intake lower amount of DM through roughage and concentrate feed mixture than their requirement but they intake surplus amount of ME, TDN and CP rather than their body requirement.

One hundred (100) Black Bengal goats of either sex based on body weight were randomly selected from Sylhet Government Goat Development Farm for this study. Selected goats were divided into five categories based on live weight and having twenty numbers in each category. Categories were (i) 2.5-4.5 kg, (ii) 4.6-6.5 kg, (iii) 6.6-8.5 kg, (iv) 8.6-10.5 kg and (v) 10.6-12.5kg. The goats were confined on wooden platform of slatted type houses in Government Goat Development Farm, Sylhet. They were kept in two separate shed. The floor, feeder and water troughs were cleaned every day properly. Separate feeders were used for roughage and concentrate and buckets for fresh drinking water. Goats were supplied equal amounts of Napier grasses (Pennisetum perpurium) twice daily at 10.30 am and 3.30 pm. Concentrate feed mixture were given (wheat bran, soybean meal, crushed gram, crushed maize and kheshari bran) at 8.30 am. and 4.30 pm. Fresh water was available at all time. Experimental goats were allowed for exercise twice daily for 30 minutes at 9.30 am to 10.0 am and 4.0 pm to 4.30 pm. Chemical analysis of feeds Samples of feed were analyzed for dry matter (DM), Ash, cruder protein (CP) crude fiber (CF) and ether extract (EE) following the method of AOAC (2004). Feed DM was determined by oven drying at 1050C for 48 h. Ash was determined by incinerating 5 g of air dried sample at 5500 C for 5 h. Crude fiber was determined by Tecator Fibretech System. Nitrogen (N) was determined by the standard Kjeldhal method and crude protein by N X 6.25. Organic matter (OM) was determine from (% OM = 100 - % Ash). Nitrogen free extract (NFE) was determined by 100 - % (CP+CE+EE+Ash).

Live weight of experimental goat: Live weight of each goat was measured using a spring balance. Weight gain was calculated as subtracted the initial live weight from the final live weight of each goat. The weight was taken at 8.00 am in the morning before feeding. Protein requirement was calculated as 32g CP per Mcal DE. Statistical analysis All the data obtained from the experimental period subjected to ANOVA following the principles of CRD using computer package GENSTAT (Lawes Agricultural Trust, 1997) and LSD differentiated treatment means.

The Black Bengal goats of the Government Goat Development Farm, Sylhet intake lower amount of DM through roughage and concentrate feed mixture than their requirement.Their intake however, was found surplus in respect of ME, TDN and CP rather than their body requirement. Utilization of this nutritional aspect may result in, increase in the efficiency of nutrients, lower feed cost and optimum weight gain.
