Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted at HRC, RARS, Jamalpur during 2018 to 2019. Seven germplasm of citron (Citrus medica) was included in this study. A wide variation was observed in citron germplasm. The highest fruit weight was found in the line CM Jam-007 and the lowest was in the line CM Jam-005. Thickness of the rind (main edible portion) was higher (18 mm) in the line CM Jam-001 and CM Jam-007 with 79% of the total fruit weight. The highest number of fruit was observed from CM Jam-006 (32) followed by CM Jam-007 (26)and the lowest was in CM Jam-001(8). The highest yield was found in CM Jam-007 (7.24 ton/ha) and the lowest was in CM Jam-001(2.07 t/ha).

Objectives:

With the demand of general people and export market it is urgent need to develop a variety of Jara lemon. Hence the present study was undertaken.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at HRC, RARS, Jamalpur during 2018 to 2019. Seven germplasm of citron was included in the study. Planting was done in August, 2015. Plants were fertilized with the recommended dose of manure and fertilizer (Ullah et. al., 2010). All of the accessions were fertilized with 12 kg well decomposed cowdung, 100 g urea, 100 g TSP and 100 g Mop 0n first week of October. Light irrigation was given after fertilization. 50 g Urea, 50 g TSP, 50 g MP and 25 g Furadan per plant was given each time on November, January and March. Two full cover spray of copper oxichloride (Amivit 50WP @ 7 g/lit of water) was applied to control canker disease. Imidachloprid (Imitaf @ 0.25 ml/L) was applied to control leaf miner when new leaves emerged. Weeding was done in rainy season before applying fertilizer. Achievement/Findings:

CM Jam-007 was found superior with highest plant height of 3.85 m, base girth (28.3 cm) and large canopy size (3.87 m x 3.75 m) and lowest plant height, narrow spreading, lowest number of branches found in CM Jam-008 as it is planted 1 year latter. The weight of the fruit varied from 231 to 446 gm. The highest fruit wt. was found in the line CM Jam-007 and the lowest was in the line CM Jam-005. Thickness of the rind (main edible portion) was higher (18 mm) in the line CM Jam-001 and CM Jam-007 with 79% of the total fruit weight. The highest no. of fruit was observed from CM Jam-006 (32) followed by CM Jam-007 (26) and the lowest was in CM Jam-001(8). The highest yield was found in CM Jam-007 (7.24 ton/ha) and the lowest was in CM Jam-001(2.07 t/ha). Although flesh weight was not very important character for citron the flesh weight was measured 56 g to 126g with 11to13 numbers of segments.
