The study was carried out at the HRC Fruit Orchard, RARS, Jamalpur during the season of 2018-19. The treatments were: Factor-A: fertilizer dose: F1= Recommended dose(1222 g Urea, 1000g TSP,1000g MOP, 281 g gypsum,15 g boron and  30 Kg cowdung), F2= 150% of the recommended dose and F3=200% of the recommended dose; Factor-B: split application of fertilizer: S1= Total amount of fertilizer in one installment (at vegetative stage), S2= Total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set) and S3= Total amount of fertilizer in three installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set+1 month after fruit set) and Factor-C: Variety: V1= BARI Kul-1 and V2= BARI Kul-2. A wide range of variations was observed in the treatments and treatments combinations in terms of parameters studied. Considering yield contributing characters and yield of ber, 200% of the recommended dose produced the highest yield (30.35 kg/plant). On the other hand, considering yield contributing characters and yield of ber, total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set) produced the highest yield (37.56 kg/plant). On the basis of variety, considering yield contributing characters and yield of ber, BARI Kul-2 produced the highest yield (41.28 kg/plant). In consideration of combined effect of fertilizer dose, split application of fertilizer and variety in terms of the plant characters, yield contributing characters and yield of ber, 200% of the recommended dose, total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set) and BARI Kul-2 produced the highest yield ( 69.05 kg/plant). In consideration of combined effect of fertilizer dose, split application of fertilizer and variety in terms of the plant characters, yield contributing characters and yield of ber, 150% of the recommended dose, total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set) and BARI Kul-1 produced the highest yield ( 34.75 kg/plant).

To study effect of fertilizer on growth, yield and quality of ber.

The study was carried out at the HRC Fruit Orchard, RARS, Jamalpur during the fruiting season of 2018-19. The treatments were: Factor-A: fertilizer dose: F1= Recommended dose (1222 g Urea, 1000g TSP,1000g MOP,281 g gypsum,15 g boron and  30 Kg cowdung) , F2= 150% of the recommended dose and F3=200% of the recommended dose; Factor-B: split application of fertilizer: S1= Total amount of fertilizer in one installment (at vegetative stage), S2= Total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set) and S3= Total amount of fertilizer in three installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set+1 month after fruit set) and Factor-C: Variety: V1= BARI Kul-1 and V2= BARI Kul-2.Plant to plant distance was 6 m and row to row distance was 6 m. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with two replications. Fifty fruits from each tree were randomly harvested and used for collection of data on fruit characters. Data on plant height, base girth, plant spread (N-S & E-W), number of flowers/panicle, fruit set (%), fruit retain after 1 month (%), fruit retain after 1.5 month (%), fruit retain at harvest (%), fruit drop after 1 month(%), fruit drop after 1.5 month(%), fruit drop up to harvest(%), number of fruits per plant, individual fruit weight, length and breadth of fruit, stone weight, stone length and breadth,TSS (%), edible portion (%) and yield per plant  were recorded. Data were statistically analyzed following open source programme ‘R’.

It is concluded from the results of this study that considering yield contributing characters and yield of ber, 200% of the recommended dose produced the highest yield (30.35 kg/plant). On the other hand, considering yield contributing characters and yield of ber, total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set) produced the highest yield (37.56 kg/plant). On the basis of variety, considering yield contributing characters and yield of ber, BARI Kul-2 produced the highest yield (41.28 kg/plant). So, by the application of 200% of the recommended dose of fertilizer and total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set), BARI Kul-2 produced the highest yield and by the application of 150% of the recommended dose of fertilizer and total amount of fertilizer in two installments (at vegetative stage + just after fruit set), BARI Kul-1 produced the highest yield.
