The study was conducter at farmer’s field of Ghatmazhi of Madaripur Sadar Upazilla and RPRS research field at Madaripur during 2012-13 to 2014-15 to find out the better economic profitability of the pulse based cropping patterns with compare to farmers pattern. Data on farmers’ patterns were calculated from 05 randomly selected farmers plot and averaged. On the other hand pulse based cropping patterns such as a) Lentil-Mungbean-Jute-T.aman, b) T.aman-Lentil-Mungbean-T.aus, c) Fieldpea-Mungbean-Jute-T.aman, d) T.aman-Mustard-Mungbean-T.aus, e) T.aman-Mustard-Mungbean-Jute data was calculated from the research field of RPRS, Madaripur. Results revealed that the T. aman-Lentil-Mungbean-T. aus pattern was got the highest benefit cost ratio (3.39) followed by traditional Lentil-Jute and T. aman-Mustard-Mungbean-T. aus cropping pattern. The lowest benefit cost ratio was recorded from traditional Mustard-Jute cropping pattern. So, the T. aman-Lentil-Mungbean-T. aus, and T. aman-Mustard-Mungbean-T. aus cropping patterns are found economically sound and viable. But considering the timing adjustment, climate, irrigation facilities and others constrients- the four crops pattern of Lentil-Mungbean-Jute-T. aman, Fieldpea-Mungbean-Jute-T. aman and T. aman-Mustard-Mungbean-Jute  are not economically viable. Therefore, the farmers of greater Faridpur region of Bangldesh can easily followed the T. aman-Lentil-Mungbean-T. aus, and T. aman-Mustard-Mungbean-T. aus cropping patterns.

To know the comparative economic profitability of pulses based cropping patterns with the farmers’ existing cropping patterns.

The studies had been conducting at Ghotmazhi of Madaripur Sadar Upazilla and RPRS, Madaripur research field during 2012-13 to 2014-15. Data collection and field trials of pattern were furnished properly and it is continuing for final conclusion. Following Materials and Methods are followed: A. Farmers cropping patterns have been studied- a) Boro- Broadcast Local Aman b) Lentil-Jute-Fallow c) Mustard-Jute- Fallow d) Wheat-Jute-Fallow B. Pulses based (four crops) cropping patterns have been studied- a) Lentil-Mungbean-Jute-T.aman b) T.aman-Lentil-Mungbean-T.aus c) Fieldpea-Mungbean-Jute-T.aman d) T.aman-Mustard-Mungbean-T.aus e) T.aman-Mustard-Mungbean-Jute. Farm size: The average farm/land size for crops in traditional farmers’ pattern like Boro, Aman rice, Lentil, Jute, Mustard, Wheat was considered 10-20 decimal which were converted converted into hectare as for calculation. The average land size for crops of pulse based (four crops) cropping pattern was set on 10-20 decimal of land which also were converted into hectare as for calculation. Agronomic practices: The agronomic practices were presented in Table 45-55. Data on farmers’ patterns were collected from 05 randomly selected farmers plot for each pattern and averaged. On the other hand pulse based (four crops) cropping patterns which mentioned above conducted in the research field of RPRS, Madaripur and data collection and counted were properly. Input use: Human labour mainly employed in land preparation, seed sowing, transplanting, fertilizing, pesticiding, thinning, harvesting and processing. Insecticides were used in the crops field (Lentil, field pea, mustard, jute , mungbean) viz. Ribcord, Karate, Sobicron, Malathion as well as fungicides were used Bavistin, Tilt, Rovral, Acrobet Mz and Vitavex. On the other hand pesticides were also used in the rice field (Boro, T. aus & Aman) Sunfuran, Karate, Bavistin and Dithane M-45. Cost analysis Economic data collection is continuing on item wise by interviewing the farmers and transformed into per hectare cost basis.

On the basis of generated information, the conclution can be made-the T. aman-Lentil-Mungbean-T. aus, and T. aman-Mustard-Mungbean-T. aus cropping patterns are found economically sound and viable for greater Faripur region of Bangladesh.
