Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Five promising genotypes viz: BMXK1-10011-3,BMX-1009-4, BMXK-010015 and two check BARI Mung-7 and BARI Mung-8 were evaluated in the trial. Among the three entries and two check varieties BMXK1-10011-3 gave the highest yield (1451 kg/ha) with the maximum 100 seed weight (5.65 g), pod length (9.13 cm) and with lowest number of plant population (30.67). On the other hand, BMXK-010015 gave the lowest yield (1142 kg/ha) with the lowest number of pods/plant (11.73).

Objectives:

To find out the farmers’ preferred stable genotypes in farmers field which is prerequisite for variety development.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at Ghatmajhi, Madaripur and PRC Ishurdi during Kharif-1 season of 2018-19 to evaluate the yield acceptability of promising lines among the farmers. Five mungbean genotypes/lines with two check BARI Mung-7 and BARI Mung-8 were evaluated under this trial. The experiment was laid-out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The unit plot size was 6 rows × 4m and spacing was 40 cm × 10 cm. Seeds were sown in the rows carefully by hands and covered by soils on 9th and 15thMarch 2019. All recommended fertilizers were applied as basal dose during final land preparation. One weeding was done at 35 days after sowing. For control of thrips and pod borer Emitaf 0.5ml/L water and Voliam Flexi 0.5ml/L water was spread at flowering and pod formation stage, respectively. Each of the entries were investigated from seeding to harvest and compared with checks. The crop was harvested after maturity. Data on yield contributing characters were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot. Grain yield (kg/ha) were recorded from the whole plot. Data were analyzed statistically by using R program.

Among the three entries and two check varieties BMXK1-10011-3 gave the highest yield (1451 kg/ha) with the maximum 100 seed weight (5.65 g), pod length (9.13 cm) and with lowest number of plant population (30.67). On the other hand, BMXK-010015 gave the lowest yield (1142 kg/ha) with the lowest number of pods/plant (11.73). Considering the yield and yield contributing characters and farmer’s opnion the BMXK1-10011-3 could go through further adaptive trial to release as a variety.
