Twenty one mungbean lines with a check BARI Mung-3 were screened out for searching of MYMV and CLS resistant genotypes. Results revealed that the lines BMMP-201515, BMMP-201524 and BMMP-201525 gave lowest MYMV score (2.00) where the line BMMP-201511 and BARI Mung-3 gave the highest score (7.33). Almost all the germplasm showed resistant CLS score. The highest yield (1417 kg/ha) obtained in BMMP-201513 and the lowest (891 kg/ha) found in the line BMMP-201517.

 It was therefore, planned to screen accessible mungbean germplasm against YMV under natural environmental conditions in Madaripur, where high population of viruliferous whitefly is always present.

The field trial was conducted at Regional Pulse Research Station (RPRS), BARI, Madaripur during Kharif-1, 2016 under irrigated condition. Twenty one exotic genotypes/lines collected from Thailand viz. BMMP-201501, BMMP-201501, BMMP-201502, BMMP-201503, BMMP-201504, BMMP201505, BMMP-201506, BMMP-201508, BMMP-201510, BMMP-201511, BMMP-201512, BMMP201512, BMMP-201514, BMMP-201515, BMMP-201516, BMMP-201517, BMMP-201518, BMMP201519, BMMP-201520, BMMP-201523, BMMP-201524, BMMP-201525 and one check BARI Mung-3 were evaluated in the trial. The experiment was laid out in Lattice design with two replications. The spacing was 40 cm X 05 cm. Seeds were sown on March 02, 2016. Two weeding were done to keep the crop weed free up-to first picking. MYMV data taken on a 0-8 scoring scale (Malik, I. A. 1992)  and CLS (0-8) scoring ( Haque et al. 1994)

The lines BMMP-201515, BMMP-201524 and BMMP-201525 gave lowest MYMV score (3.00) where the line BMMP-201511 and BARI Mung-3 gave the highest score (7.33). CLS score varied from 0.66-2.00 which verified the tested materials were resistant to highly resistant. Days to flower were varied from 27-42. The lowest days to flower observed in BMMP-201504, BMMP-201506, BMMP-201512 (27) and the highest days to flower observed in BMMP201511 (42). Days to maturity varied from 54-60. The highest Days to maturity (60) observed in BMMP201516, BMMP-201518 and the lowest (54) in BMMP-201520, BMMP-201523, BMMP-201524 and BMMP-201525. The highest plant height (64.00 cm) was recorded in the line BMMP-201524 and the lowest (31.67 cm) in BMMP-201525. The maximum number of pods/plant (35.03) were produced by BMMP-201513 and minimum (16.63) in BARI Mung-3. The highest (10.67 cm) pod length was measured in the line BMMP-201511 and the minimum in BARI Mung-3 (6.53). The highest (13.00) number of seeds/pod was found in BMMP-201513 and the lowest (7.66) in BMMP-201503. The maximum 100 seed weight (5.35 g) found in BMMP-201504 and lowest (3.59 g) in BARI Mung-3. The highest yield (1417 kg/ha) obtained in BMMP-201513 and the lowest (891 kg/ha) found in the line BMMP-201517. Five lines BMMP-201510, BMMP-201512, BMMP-201515, BMMP-201524 and BMMP-201525 gave lowest and resistant MYMV score (3.33, 3.66, 3.00, 3.00 and 3.00 respectively) where the line BMMP-201511 and BARI Mung-3 gave the highest score (7.33). The highest yield (1417 kg/ha) obtained in BMMP-201513 and the lowest (891 kg/ha) in the line BMMP-201517. So, to know the potentiality of the germplasm the experiment could be continued next year.
