Evaluation of Advanced Lines of Mungbean Resistant to Mymv and Cls

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Six selected advanced lines with a check BARI Mung-1 were evaluated in the trial. The lines were BMXK1-06006-4, GK-24, MMLI-V12, BD-6921 and MMB-V01. Results revealed that the line BMXK1-06006-4 gave lowest MYMV score (1.33) where the line BD-6921 gave the highest YMV score (4.66). Almost all the germplasm showed resistant CLS score. The line BMXK1-06006-4 gave the highest (1310 kg/ha) yield followed by (1137 kg/ha) MMB-V01 and the lowest yield (875 kg/ha) found in the line BARI Mung-1.

Objectives:

Therefore the experiment was conducted at RPRS, Madaripur to find out high yielding and disease resistance advanced lines of mungbean.

Methodology:

Six genotypes/lines viz. BMXK1-06006-4, GK-22, MMLI-V12, MMAT-V07, BD-6921, MMB-V01 and check BARI Mung-1 were evaluated in the trial. Among the genotypes BMXK1-06006-4 was received from PRC, Iswardi, GK-22 from Agronomy division, BSMRAU, Gazipur and rest 4 entries were collected from different places of southern region. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. Plot size was 3mX4m. The spacing was 40 cm X 05 cm. Seeds were sown on March 03, 2016. Two weeding were done to keep the crop weed free up-to first picking. Data on yield 178 and yield contributing characters were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot and seed yield (kg/ha) were recorded from whole plot and analyzed statistically through MSTAT-C.

Achievement/Findings:

Experimental results revealed that all the yield components were statistically significant. Days to flower varied from 36-43. The lowest days to flower observed in MMLI-V12 and MMAT-V07 (36) and the highest days to flower observed in BD6921 (43). Days to maturity varied from 55-60. The lowest Days to maturity (55) observed in MMLIV12, MMAT-V07, MMB-V01 and the highest (60) in BARI GK-24. The highest plant height (45.47 cm) was recorded in BD-6921 and the lowest (38.20 cm) in MMLI-V12. The maximum number of pods/plant (31.10) produced by BMXK1-06006-4 followed by (30.20) in MMAT-V07 and minimum in BD-6921 (25.20). The highest (10.22 cm) pod length found in MMAT-V07 and lowest (8.18 cm) in BD-6921. The highest (10.73) number of seeds/pod was found in BD-6921 followed by (10.33) the line BMXK1-06006-4 and lowest (8.73) in MMB-V01. The highest 100 seed weight (7.11 g) observed in BMXK1-06006-4 and the lowest (4.12 g) in BD-6921. The best (1.33) MYMV score obtained in the line BMXK1-06006-4 and poorest (4.66) in the line BD-6921 and BARI Mung-1. Almost all the lines showed resistant CLS score. Among the entries BMXK1-06006-4 gave the highest seed yield (1310 kg/ha) followed by MMB-V01 (1137 kg/ha) and the lowest (875 kg/ha) yield was recorded in BARI Mung-1. Among the six advanced lines, the line BMXK1-06006-4, MMAT-V07 and MMB-V01 have shown better performance in terms of yellow mosaic virus (score 1.33, 2.33 and 2.33 respectively) and also production per hectare (1310, 1126 and 1137 kg/ha). To confirm the potentiality of the germplasm, the experiment could be done next year regionally.
