The field experiment was carried out at Barind, Jessore and Barisal during Rabi season of 2015-16 to find out suitable line/genotype (s) of chickpea. Among the kocation BCX06004-10 was found earlier compare to Barind and Jessore. In case of number of pods/plant highest in Jessore for all the genotypes. The entries BCX06004-10 and BCX06001-11 could be tested in the next year.

To select suitable line/entry(ies) for Chickpea variety development.

 

The field experiment was carried out at Barind, Jessore and Barisal during Rabiseason of 2015-16 to find out suitable line/genotype(s) of chickpea. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Three advanced lines of chickpea viz. BCX 06004-10, BCX 06001-11 and ICCV-92944 along with two check varieties (BARI Chola-5 and BARI Chola-9) were used as research materials. The unit plot size was 6 rows with 4 meter long. The seeds were sown with spacing row-to-row distance 50 cm and seed to seed distance 10 cm with using seed rate 50 kg/ha. Seeds were sown on 09 to 19 November 2015. The experimental plot was applied 33-24-25-18-1-1 kg/ha N-P-K-S-Zn-B in the form of urea, triple super phosphate, muriate of potash, gypsum, zinc sulphate and boric acid, respectively (FRG, 2012). All fertilizers were applied as basal after final land preparation. The crop was harvested after attaining the physiological maturity. Data were collected on phenological parameters, yield components and yield such as days to flowering, days to maturity, plant population, plant height, number of pod/plant, 100-seed weight and grain yield of chickpea. Data were analyzed statistically and means were separated by Least Significance Difference (LSD) test by using computer software MSTAT-C and R program.

There were significant variation among the tested entries/lines in relation to number of days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, number of pod/plant, 100-seed weight and grain yield (kg/ha). Among the entries, BCX 06004-10 (39.67 days) is earlier compare to check BARI Chola-9 (39.00 days) in all locations. BCX 06004-10 showed the early maturity (99.00 days) compared to BARI Chola-5 (99.00 days). The entries of ICCV-92944 took comparatively longer time to maturity. Among the location the highest no. of plant height was in Barishal and in case of mean performance highest plant hight was observed in BARIChola-9 followed by BCX06004-10. The highest number of pod/plant was achieved from BCX 06004-10 followed by BARI Chola-5. In case of 100-seed weight, BCX 06001-11 had the weight followed by ICCV-92944. None of the entries was produced higher yield compare to check.
