Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Seven genotypes including one check variety BARI Mung-6 were evaluated at Pulses Research Center, Ishurdi, Pabna; PRSS, Madaripur and RARS, Rahmatpur, RARS Jessore and Gazipur during Kharif-I, 2016. Considering mean values over location among the entries the highest number of pods per plant and 100 seed weight was recorded in BMX-08011-8 followed by BMX-08011-2. BMx08011-2 and BMX08011-8 selected for PVS in the next year.

Objectives:

To evaluate them in the PVS in a single or multiple suitable location(s) to asses their adaptive performance to release as a variety.

Methodology:

Four genotypes of mungbean including one check variety BARI Mung-6 were evaluated at Pulses Research Center, Ishurdi; PRSS, Joydebpur; RARS, Barisal RPRS, Madaripur and RARS Jessore, during Kharif-I, 2016 The experiment was laid out in a RCB design with three replications and spacing of 40 cm between rows. Each entry was sown in 4 rows of 4m long plot. Spacing between two plots were 50 cm. Seeds were sown in the rows carefully by hands at 3 cm depth and then covered with soils. Post sowing irrigation was given to ensure seed germination. Mulching was done and soil crusts were broken. Each of the entries were investigated from seedling to harvest and compared with check. From each plot 10 plants were selected randomly to compute data. Yield data was recorded from the whole plot and converted into kg/ha^-1. Data were analyzed statistically by using MS Excel and R program and means were separated following LSD at 0.05.

Achievement/Findings:

There was no remarkable variation among the entries regarding days to flower and days to maturity. None of the entries found earlier compare to check. Considering days to flowering and maturity BARI mung 6 was earlier in all locations. In case of pod/plant maximum number of pod was obtained from Madaripur location for all genotypes followed by Joydevpur and Jessore. All genotypes also showed maximum seed weight at Madaripur and the height seed weight were observed in BMX08011-2 followed by BARImung 6. From the mean values over locations the highest mean number of pods per plant was recorded in BMX08011-8 followed by BMX08011-24. None of the entries out yielded over the check was found in BARI Mung 6 which was followed by BMX08011-8 and BMX08011-2. The yield of each cultivar in a tested environment is a result of genotypic main effect (G), environmental main effect (E) and genotype × environment (GE) interaction in biplot analysis (Fig.10). GGE biplot technique separates two principal components, PC1 and PC2 and it explained about 84.8% of variation. The horizontal axis (PC1) indicates the main effect of genotype while the vertical axis (PC2) shows the interaction of genotype and environment which is the basic criterion for judging genotypic stability. Based on GGE biplot analysis BMx08011-2 and BMX08011-8 could be selected for further trials.
