A study was conducted at the research field of Pulses Research Sub-Station, Gazipur and RARS, BARI, Jessore during 2016-17 to estimate the effective doses of micronutrients (Zn, B and Mo) for lentil yield maximization in Bangladesh. There were 8 treatments viz. T1 = Control, T2 = Zn 2.0 kg ha-1, T3= B 1.5 kg ha-1, T4= Mo 1.o kg ha-1, T5= Zn2.0B1.5, T6= Zn2.0Mo1.0, T7= B1.5Mo1.0 and T8= Zn2.0B1.5Mo1.0 along with the blanket dose of N15P20K30S10 kg ha-1.  The experiment was designed randomized complete block with three replications. The results showed that the seed yields of lentil ranged from 785-1081 kg ha-1 at Gazipur and 1292-1680 kg ha-1 at Jessore, respectively. The average seed yield of two locations ranged from 1093-1381 kg ha-1. The highest lentil seed yield was obtained from the treatment T8 at Gazipur and at Jessore. The lowest yield was found in control plot.The highest net return was counted from T8 treatment at Gazipur and at Jessore. The highest benefit cost ratio 2.86 and 3.83 were counted from the treatment T5 at Gazipur and Jessore, respectively. The lowest net return was calculated from control treatment and the lowest benefit cost ratio was also counted from the T1 treatment at Gazipur and Jessore. Considering the benefit cost ratio the micronutrient management practices of T5= Zn2.0B1.5 kg ha-1 may be considered as economically sound and suitable dose for lentil yield maximization in calcareeus and terrace soils of Bangladesh.

(i) to evaluate the response of yield and yield contributing characters of lentil to micronutrient (Zn, B and Mo) application; and (ii) to find out the effective dose of micronutrient (Zn, B and Mo) for lentil yield maximization.

 

An experiment was conducted during Rabi season of 2016-17 at the experimental field of PRSS, Gazipur and RARS, Jessore to find out the effective doses of micronutrients (Zn, B and Mo) for lentil yield maximization.There were 8 treatments viz. T1 = Control, T2 = Zn 2.0 kg ha-1, T3= B 1.5 kg ha-1, T4= Mo 1.o kg ha-1, T5= Zn2.0B1.5, T6= Zn2.0Mo1.0, T7= B1.5Mo1.0 and T8= Zn2.0B1.5Mo1.0 along with the blanket dose of N15P20K30S10 kg ha-1.  The initial soil samples and final soil samples were collected from the experimental field from 0-15 cm depth and the collected samples were analyzed for chemical properties using standard procedures in the laboratory. The experimental design was randomized complete block with three replications. The unit plot size was 4 m x 3 m. The lentil variety BARI Lentil-7 was used. Lentils seeds at the rate of 30 kg ha-1 were sown on 16 November 2016 at Gazipur and 20 November 2016 at Jessore. In each replication, the seeds were sown through maintaining the distance of row to row 30 cm with continuous seeding in line. Weeding was done in two times-1st 20 DAS and 2nd 35 DAS. Others management practices were done properly. Data on grain yield were collected from the whole plot and stover data were counted from 2 square meter but all the yield components namely: plant height, branches/ plant, number of pods/plant, number of seeds /pod and 1000 seed weight were collected from ten plants selected randomly from each unit plot. Collected data were statistically analyzed through Statistix 10 package. In this study BCR was analyzed for a hectare of land. Treatment wise management cost was calculated by adding the cost incurred for labours and inputs for each treatment. The total yield after each harvest was calculated separately for every treatment and accumulated at the end of the final harvest. The total yield of each treatment was converted for determining yield (kg ha-1). This yield was utilized to calculate the gross return. This was measured by multiplying the total yield by the unit price of lentil at that time. Net return was calculated by subtracting management cost from gross return.

From the aforesaid results, it may be concluded that the micronutrient management practice of Zn2.0B1.5Mo1.0 and Zn2.0B1.5 with a blanket dose of N15 P20 K30 S10 kg ha-1 economically sound and suitable for lentil yield maximization in terrace and calcareous soils of Bangladesh.
