Evaluation of Fungicide for Controlling Botrytis Gray Mold Disease of Chickpea. Season: 2016-2017

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Fungicides screening experiment was conducted at Regional Pulses Research Station, Madaripur during 2016-17. Four different fungicides Acrobat MZ, Indofil M-45, Bavistin DF, Secure 600WG including control were evaluated under natural condition. Results revealed that among the four fungicides Acrobat MZ treated plots showed lowest diseases score (4.33) against BGM and produced highest yield (1152) and increased of yield over control (43.31%). The highest disease score (6.33) and lowest yield (653 kg/ha) was obtained in untreated control plot.

Objectives:

To control BGM disease by chemicals use.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at RPRS, Madaripur during Rabi season of 2016-17. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Four fungicides and control were included in the study. The unit plot size was 3 m X 4 m and spacing was 50 cm × 10 cm. A BGM susceptible Chickpea variety BARI Chola-5 were sown in the rows and covered with soil on 21 November, 2017. Intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. Data on yield and yield contributing characters were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants. Three sprays were applied at weekly interval on 02, 09 and 16 February, 2017 respectively by the knapsack sprayer. Data on BGM disease was recorded on three frequencies (05, 12 and 19 February, 2017). BGM of Chickpea was graded on a 1-9 scoring scale (Singh, 1999).

Achievement/Findings:

From the above findings, it may be suggested that Secure 600WG (Fenamidone+Mancozeb) and Acrobat MZ can effectively control BGM (both score 5.00 and 4.33, disease reduction 21.01 and 31.59%) and produced better yield (1060 and 1152 kg/ha respectively) of quality Chickpea. These two fungicides also provide highest BCR, 4.94 and 4.82 respectively.
