Six families selected from last year’s F5s generation were grown against check variety BARI Mash-4 during Kharif II 2018 at Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna. The experiment was laid out in a RCB design with two replications and having a spacing of 40 cm between rows. Among the test entries significant differences were observed in for Plant height (cm), Pods per plant,  100 Seed weight (g) and yield (kg/ha). The highest yield (2190 kg/ha) was obtained from BBLX K2-012005-6 followed by BBLX K2-012002-11, BBLX K2-012002-7 and lowest yield (1246 kg/ha) from BBLX K2-012001-5 followed by BBLX K2-012003-1and BBLX K2-012006-10. Therefore, Ten genotypes BBLX K2-012005-6, BBLX K2-012002-11, BBLX K2-012002-7, BBLX K2-012003-9, BBLX K2-012002-2, BBLX K2-012002-4, BBLX K2-012005-5, BBLX K2-012003-11, BBLX K2-012003-6, and BBLX K2-012003-15 were selected to evaluate in the next kharif II season in PYT trial.

The objectives of this experiment to evaluated in the replicated observation trial comparing with the standard commercial varieties using as checks for observation of yield and yield contributing characters.

Six families selected from F5 generation were grown against the check varieties BARI Mash-4 during Kharif II 2018 at Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna. The experiment was laid out in a RCB design with two replications and spacing of 40 cm between rows. Each entry was sown in 2 rows of 4 m long plot. Seeds were sown on 17 August, 2018 in the rows carefully by hands at 3 cm depth and then covered by soils. Post sowing irrigation was given to ensure seed germination. Mulching was done and soil crusts were broken. Each of the entries were investigated from seedling to harvest and compared with checks.  At maturity best individual lines were selected on the basis of earliness, disease reaction and higher yield. Grain yield were recorded from the whole plot and converted into kg ha-1. Data were analyzed following STAR 2.0.1 computer software.

Yield and yield contributing characters are presented in Table 1.5. Among the test entries significant differences were observed in for Plant height (cm), Pods per plant, 100 Seed weight (g) and yield (kg/ha). The genotype BBLX K2-012001-5 showed flower earlier than the other genotypes. In case of days to maturity BBLX K2-012001-7 and BBLX K2-012006-10 took minimum days (73 days) to mature and BBLX K2-012003-9 genotype matured at late (79 days). The highest plant height was found in BBLX K2-012001-1 (60.40 cm) and the lowest in BBLX K2-012005-8 (46.6 cm) followed by BBLX K2-012006-5. The highest mean numbers of pods per plant were produced by BBLX K2-012004-3 (60) followed by BBLX K2-012002-7 and the lowest in BBLX K2-012002-9 (33) followed by BBLX K2-012002-11. Bold size seeds (5.65 g) were obtained from BARI Mash-4 followed by BBLX K2-012003-6 and small size seeds (3.79g) from BBLX K2-012005-6 followed by BBLX K2-012001-11 (3.84g). The highest yield (2190 kg/ha) was obtained from BBLX K2-012005-6 followed by BBLX K2-012002-11, BBLX K2-012002-7 and lowest yield (1246 kg/ha) from BBLX K2-012001-5 followed by BBLX K2-012003-1and BBLX K2-012006-10. Therefore, Nine genotypes BBLX K2-012002-9, BBLX K2-012005-8, BBLX K2-012005-5, BBLX K2-012002-4, BBLX K2-012002-2, BBLX K2-012003-9, BBLX K2-012002-7, BBLX K2-012002-11 and BBLX K2-012005-6 were selected to evaluate in the next kharif II season in PYT trial.
