The study was conducted with thirty-five muskmelon genotypes at the experiment field of Regional Horticultural Research Station, Shibpur, Narsingdi , BARI from 2017 to 2018. The collected genotypes were originated from PGRC and different locations. The study was carried out in a randomized block design with three replications.  Significant differences were noted for the whole of the quantitative characters. Cluster analysis separated the genotypes into five different groups. The distribution pattern that a maximum number of genotype 12 was included in cluster I which was followed by Cluster III 11 genotypes whereas a minimum 1 genotype was found cluster V. Cluster II was found 6 genotypes and cluster IV was obtained 5 genotypes. Yield contributing characters in 35 genotypes of muskmelon were analyzed by RCBD analysis. The highest yield per plant, yield per plot and yield t/ha were observed in CM 2276 (15.39 kg/plant, 46.18 kg/plot and 36.94 t/ha respectively) whereas the lowest yield per plant, yield per plot and yield (t/ha) were found in CM 2293 (3.5kg/plant, 10.54kg/plot and 8.34 (t/ha), respectively). Considering, no. of fruit per plant, yield per plant, yield t/ha and TSS, cluster II, III and IV will be given higher priority in the future muskmelon development program.

To develop improved muskmelon variety and its yield potentiality in Narsingdi region of Bangladesh the present study was undertaken.

 

The material for the present study was comprised of thirty-five genotypes of muskmelon collected from PGRC and different places. The experiment was laid in a Completely Randomized Block Design with three replications during summer 2018. The plot size 3.5 m X 2.5 m and the plant to plant 1.5 m distance. Plot to plot drain 60cm. Three plants were selected and all observations were recorded. Weeding, irrigation, and other intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. The transplanted seedlings were always kept under careful observation. Genetic diversity in this species has been analyzed using several morphological and yield characters. Data was collected on the first female flower appear, fruit weight (kg), fruit length (cm), number of fruits/plant, yield/plant (kg), yield per plot, yield ton per hectare, and total soluble solids (%). Collected data were summarized and necessary conversions were made for statistical analysis. The cluster was done by statistical package STAR and RCBD analysis was completed R Software.
