Evaluation of Different New Fungicides in Controlling Anthracnose of Chilli

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Efficacy of sixteen new fungicides, viz., T1= Azonil 56 SC, (Azoxystrobin 6%+Chlorothalonil 50%) (1ml/L), T₂=Sunsinil 72% WP (Mancozeb 64% + Cymoxanil 8% WP) (2gm/L), T₃=Camping 50%WP (Carbendazim 50%WP) (2gm/L), T₄=Safe guard 72%WP (Mancozeb 64%+Cymoxanil 8%WP) (2gm/L), T₅=Peer 50wp (Carbendazim 50%WP) (2gm/L), T₆=Seata 1.8 EC (Abamectin 1.8% EC) (2gm/L), T₇=Hemobin 75WDG (Tebuconazole 50%+Trifloxystroin 25%) (1gm/L), T₈=Abeco 20 EW (Copper abietate 20%) (1.2 kg/ha), T₉=Power Cardion 52.5 WP(Carbendazim 17.5% + Iprodion 35 %) (2 gm/L) T₁₀=Lilia 52.5SE (Propiconazole 12.5% + Tricyclazole 40% SE) (250ml/ha), T₁₁=Sarder 32.5 SC (Difenoconazole 20% + Azoxytrobin 12.5%) ( 200ml/acre), T₁₂=Perky 50 wp (Carbendazim 50% WP) (2 gm/Ltr), T₁₃=Dipo Gold 30EC (Defenconazole 15% Propiconazole 15%EC) (0.5ml/L), T₁₄=Hexol 10 EC (Hexaconazole 10%) (1ml/L), T₁₅=Bcozim 50 WP(Carbendazim 50%) (2g/L), T₁₆=Sadno 50 WP (Carbendazim) (2gm/L) were tested to reduce the anthracnose and increase the yield of chilli.Azonil 56 SC, Peer 50wp, Hemobin 75WDG, Dipo Gold 30EC, Bcozim 50 WP, Sadno 50 WP effectivelycontrolled the growth of C. capsici in the laboratory conditions.so, they are the better fungicides to reduce the anthracnose diseases than the other fungicides.

Objectives:

The present research work was designed to test the efficacy of some new fungicides in controlling anthracnose/die-back disease and increase yield of chilli

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted in the laboratory and field in Plant pathology division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur, Bangladesh during Rabi season of 2018-2019. There were 17 different treatments (16 new fungicides and one control) designated by T1= Azonil 56 SC, (Azoxystrobin 6%+Chlorothalonil 50%) (1ml/L), T₂=Sunsinil 72% WP (Mancozeb 64% + Cymoxanil 8% WP) (2gm/L), T₃=Camping 50%WP (Carbendazim 50%WP) (2gm/L), T₄=Safe guard 72%WP (Mancozeb 64%+Cymoxanil 8%WP) (2gm/L), T₅=Peer 50wp (Carbendazim 50%WP) (2gm/L), T₆=Seata 1.8 EC (Abamectin 1.8% EC) (2gm/L), T₇=Hemobin 75WDG (Tebuconazole 50%+Trifloxystroin 25%) (1gm/L), T₈=Abeco 20 EW (Copper abietate 20%) (1.2 kg/ha), T₉=Power Cardion 52.5 WP(Carbendazim 17.5% + Iprodion 35 %) (2 gm/L) T₁₀=Lilia 52.5SE (Propiconazole 12.5% + Tricyclazole 40% SE) (250ml/ha), T₁₁=Sarder 32.5 SC (Difenoconazole 20% + Azoxytrobin 12.5%) ( 200ml/acre), T₁₂=Perky 50 wp (Carbendazim 50% WP) (2 gm/Ltr), T₁₃=Dipo Gold 30EC (Defenconazole 15% Propiconazole 15%EC) (0.5ml/L), T₁₄=Hexol 10 EC (Hexaconazole 10%) (1ml/L), T₁₅=Bcozim 50 WP(Carbendazim 50%) (2g/L), T₁₆=Sadno 50 WP (Carbendazim) (2gm/L), and T₁₇=control.

At laboratory conditions, the concentration of each fungicide was 500 ppm including control and mixed with PDA and pour into separate 51 petriplates maintain three replications. The pathogen was collected from the previous infected field. The block (16 mm²) of a pure culture of Colletotrichumcapsiciwas placed into each petriplates and incubated for 25⁰C with alternative light and dark conditions. The radial colony growth of C. capsici was measured at 6 and 9 days. Percent Growth inhibition (GI) was calculated by the formula (Bhutiaet.al., 2015)

Infield condition, the experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The size of the individual unit plot was 3.0 m × 2.0 m. Plant spacing was 50 cm × 40 cm. The local variety was used in the present experiment. The seedling was transplanted on December 6, 2018. All intercultural operations were done when required. The in vitro and in vivo data were analyzed by using software R.

Achievement/Findings:

On the other hand, the invitroradial mycelial growth range was 8.46 to 32.54mm, at 5 days for the rest of other fungicides treated plates.Moreover, Camping 50%WP, Power Cardion 52.5 WP, Lilia 52.5SE, Sarder 32.5 SC, and Hexol 10 EC demonstrated < 30 mm radial mycelial growth after 9 days of treatment. The highest in vitro radial mycelial growth was recorded from Sunsinil 72% WP treated plates
