Efficacy of Fungicide Against Leaf Spot and Vine Rot Diseases of Betel Vine

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted at RARS, Rahmatpur, Borishal during 2018-2019 cropping season. Management of leaf spot and vine rot disease of vetel vine was conducted by Autostin (0.1%), Secure (0.1%), Dithane M-45(0.1%), Tilt (0.05 %) and Nativo (0.1%) under natural condition in an established orchard. Nativo, Tilt and Secure effectively control the leaf spot disease of the betel vine. Nativo and Secure were also found highly effective in controlling the vine rot disease of the betel vine.

Objectives:

To control the diseases of betel vine the present experiment was conducted to find out the efficacy of different fungicides.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Rahmatpur, Barisal during 2018-2019. The design was RCB having 3 replications. Variety was Baripan-1. Size of the plots was 3.0m x 2.0m. The experiment was conducted under natural infection condition in an established orchard. Recommended doses of fertilizers (MOC 6 t/ha, Urea 180 kg, TSP 150 kg, MoP 36kg, Zypsum 50 kg and Zincsulphate 15 kg per hectare) were used. The six treatments were T₁= Autostin (Carbendazim) @ 0.1%, T₂= Secure 600 WG (Fenamidone+ Mancozeb) @ 0.1%, T₃= Dithane M-45(Mancozeb) @ 0.1%, T₄= Tilt 250 EC (Propiconazole) @ 0.05 %, T₅= Nativo 75 WG (Tebuconazole+Trofloxystobin) @ 0.1%) and T₆= Control. Three sprays were done at an interval of 7 days while the first one was applied just at the first appearance of the disease symptom. Data were recorded on incidence of leaf spot and vine rot disease and yield of vetel vine. Collected data were analyzed statistically following DMRT

Achievement/Findings:

Among the treatments, Nativo (0.1%) showed the lowest disease incidence of leaf spot (8.30 %) and vine rot (6.51 %). The second lowest disease incidence of leaf spot (9.10%) and vine rot (10.10%) was found in Tilt and Secure, respectively. The highest disease incidence of leaf spot (52.01%) and vine rot (32.89%) was observed in the control treatment
