The experiment was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Ishurdi, Pabna during rabi season 2017-18 to find out the effective fungicides for controlling white mold /sclerotinia rot disease of the country bean. Eight fungicides viz. Tilt 250 EC, Autostin 50 WDG, Rovral 50WP, Folicure 250 EC, Contaf 5EC, Companion, Indofil M 45 and Secure 600 WG and control were tested for their performance against the disease. All the fungicides showed significantly better performance over control. The lowest severity of white mold disease (3.33%) was found in Folicur 250 EC @ 0.1% treated plots whereas the highest (12.33%) was recorded in untreated control plots. Moreover, Folicur 250 EC @ 0.1% treated plots provided the highest yield (8.72t/ha). Considering efficacy, yield and benefit Folicur 250 EC @ 0.1% was the best among the fungicides followed by Tilt 250 EC @ 0.05%.

The present research work was undertaken to find out the effect of fungicides against white mold disease of country bean.

Laboratory experiment The laboratory experiment was conducted at the laboratory of Plant Pathology Division, RARS, Ishurdi, Pabna during 2017-18. Potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium was amended with fungicides. After solidification of PDA, the plates were inoculated by placing 3 days old PDA culture of Sclerotiniasclerotiorum. The inocula were placed keeping upside down at the center of the test plates using a flame-sterilized needle at one disc per plate. The inoculated plates were incubated in the incubator for (25±2°C) for 10 Days. Data on mycelial growth at 5 and10 DAI (Days after inoculation) was recorded following a completely randomized design with three replications.

Field experiment The efficacy of eight different fungicides was tested against white mould / Sclerotinia stem rot disease of country bean at RARS, Ishurdi, Pabna during rabi season of 2017-18. The experiment was laid out in a RCB design with three replications. The unit plot size was 3.0m x 2.0m. Seeds of BARI country bean-3 were sown on November 5, 2017, and seedlings were transplanted in the main experimental plot on November 30, 2017. Pit to pit distance was 1.5m. Eight fungicides where, T1= Tilt 250 EC (Propiconazole) @ 0.05%, T2=Autostin 50 WDG(Carbendazim) @ 0.2%, T3=Rovral 50WP (Iprodione)@ 0.2%, T4=Folicure 250 EC(Tebuconazole) @ 0.1%, T5 =Contaf 5EC(Hexaconazole) @ 0.1%, T6=Companion (Mancozeb+Carbendazim) @ 0.2%, T7 =Indofil M 45 (Mancozeb) @ 0.2% and T8=Secure 600 WG (Fenamidione + Mancozeb) @ 0.1% and T9= Control wereused in thisexperiment. The crop was allowed to grow under natural conditions and subjected to natural infection. Spraying was conducted three times at 7 days intervals starting from the immediate appearance of disease symptoms. Irrigation and other cultural practices were performed as and when necessary. Data were recorded on the severity of the white mold, the number of pods/ plant, the weight of pods/ plant (kg) and yield (t/ha). The data were analyzed statistically for tests of significance and mean compared following the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT).

From the experimental results, it may be concluded that Folicur 250 EC @0.1% applied three times from the first appearance of the disease at an interval of 7 days found effective and economic followed by Tilt 250 EC @ 0.05% in controlling of white mold ( Sclerotinia rot) disease and increase the yield of the country bean.
