Evaluation of Exotic Grass Pea (early and Low-b-odap) Genotypes to Salt Stress Condition (2017 - 2018)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted at PRSS, Gazipur and physiology lab during Rabi, 2018 to find out desirable salt stress genotypes of Grasspea for the saline area. The fifteen Grasspea genotypes viz. seven genotypes early eg. IFLA2282, IFLA2924, IFLA2974, IFLA159, IFLA2765, IFLA2736, IFLA1755 and six genotypes low-B-ODAP eg. IFLA1826, IFLA118, IFLA119, IFLA2341, IFLA2781, IFLA2750 and 2 local eg. BARI-K-2 and BARI-K-3 included as a check in the study. Among the entries IFLA2282, IFLA2974, IFLA2736 and IFLA1755 are 30%, 20%, 25% and 10% as early entries. On the other hand IFLA118, IFLA2998, IFLA234 and IFLA2750 are 15%, 20%, 28% as a Low-B-ODAP entry. But our local two check BARI K2 and BARI K3 both are germinated 12% and 20%.

Objectives:

With a view to have variable genotypes the morphological characterization of germplasm collected from different sources was done both for qualitative and quantitative traits from where some valuable lines based on seed size and yield potentiality were selected which will be helpful for further variety development works.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted during Rabi season of 2017-18 at Pulses Research Sub-Centre Physiology lab BARI, Gazipur. A total of 13 germplasm from exotic and 2 local sources were evaluated. The experiment was laid out in CRD with 2 replications. Each entry was sown on 15 March 2018 Data to be recorded % of germination, fresh and dry weight of plumule, fresh and dry weight of radical, length of radical and length of plumule, shoot dry weight, root dry weight. The statistical analysis was done using GENSTAT-5.5 computer software.

Achievement/Findings:

Among the fifteen entries these entries IFLA2282, IFLA2974, IFLA2736 and IFLA1755 are 30%, 20%, 25% and 10% as a early entries. On the other hand IFLA118, IFLA2998, FLA234 and IFLA2750 are 15%, 20%, 28% as a Low-B-ODAP entries. But our local two check BARI Khesari-2 and BARI Khesari-3 both are germinated 12% and 20%. After that all germinated entries were damage as a result we cannot be taken another data.
