Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The field experiment was conducted at Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna, during rabi season 2017-18 to find out the suitable germplasm having a higher yield of grasspea under relay condition using a randomized complete block design with two replications. Significant genotypic differences were detected for all recorded traits except plant height. The entry BKX-0002-4 matured earlier (107 days) than others. The highest plant height was found from Patuakhali local (97.7cm) and lowest was found in BKX-0003-1 (85.2cm). The genotype Sirajgonj local produced maximum pods per plant than other genotypes. Bold size seeds were obtained from BARI Khesari-2. The highest yield was obtained from Sirajgonj local (1840 kg/ha) followed by Sel-1348 and BKX-0002-4. Three genotypes Sel-1348, Sirajgonj local and BKX-0002-4 were selected for next season trial.

Objectives:

. This experiment was undertaken to evaluate the performance and growth responses of grasspea germplasm under relay condition.

Methodology:

The experiment was consisted of nine genotypes selected from different areas of the country along with BARI Khesari-2 as a check and carried out in rabi, 2017-18 at Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna. The study was undertaken to evaluate the performance and growth of grasspea under relay condition. The experiment was laid out in a RCB design with two replications and spacing was 50 cm between rows. The unit plot size was 2 m and 4 m long with a 50 cm border between plots and 1 m between replications. Seeds were sown on 02 November 2017 in between T. Aman rice rows carefully in the transplanted monsoon rice field after drainage of excess water, before 15 days of the rice harvest. For this experiment, a short-duration Aman rice field (BINA Dhan 7) was used. Recommended fertilizers were used for rice cultivation during final land preparation. Mulching was done and soil crusts were broken. Each of the entries was investigated from seedling to harvest and compared with checks. Rice was harvested keeping 20 cm straw from topsoil. The crop was harvested from March 18-30 in 2018 when 80% of the plant and pod turned to straw color. Best individual lines were selected on the basis of earliness, 100 seed weight and higher yield. Yield data was recorded from the whole plot and converted into kg/ha. Ten plants from each unit plot were selected at random outside the harvest area and tagged at the maturity of the crop for the data collection on yield contributing characters. The recorded data were compiled and tabulated for statistical analysis. Analysis of variance was done using the computer package STAR 2.0.1.
