Efficacy of New Fungicides in Controlling Phomopsis Blight Disease of Brinjal (2016 - 2017)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The effect of six different new fungicides was tested on disease incidence of Phomopsis blight of brinjal at Gazipur during cropping season 2016-2017. All the fungicides had a significant effect on the reduction of disease incidence of the crop compared to control. Objectives:

The present research work was undertaken to to find out some effective new fungicides against Phomopsis blight and fruit rot of brinjal.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted for controlling Phomopsis blight of brinjal at Gazipur during the cropping season 2016-17. There were 7 treatments viz., T₁= Lux clean(0.2%), T₂= Indothane 72 wp (0.2%), T₃= Green row (0.2%), T₄= Shield 75 wp (0.2%), T₅= Turbo 50 wp (0.2%), T₆= Awal 72 wp (0.2%) and T₇= Control with three replications. The design of the experiment was RCBD. A variety of singnath was sown in the experiment. The spacing was maintained 100 cm x 75 cm. Recommended fertilizer doses and proper intercultural operations were applied in the experiment. Data was recorded on disease incidence of Phomopsis blight. Data were analyzed statistically and means were separated following DMRT

Achievement/Findings:

Among the six chemical treatments Lux clean and Turbo gave good results followed by Green row, Indothane and Shield. The lowest disease incidence was found from Lux clean (5%) and Turbo (5%) and the highest disease incidence (19 %) was found from the control plot. In fact, all the chemical treatments had a significant effect on the reduction of disease incidence of brinjal compared to control. In terms of disease reduction of Phomopsis blight, Lux clean and Turbo were best. Lux clean and Turbo were found better than others for controlling Phomopsis blight and disease reduction in brinjal.
