Integrated Management of Wilt Complex Disease of Chili (2016 - 2017)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The trial was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station Ishurdi, Pabna during rabi season 2016-17 to find out effective management practices against wilt complex disease of chili. Eight treatments viz. T₁= Seedling treatment with Bavistin + Soil drenching with Bavistin @ 0.2%, T₂= Soil application with Stable Bleaching powder @ 20 kg/ha, T₃= Soil application with Calcium Nitrate @ 1% solution, T₄= Soil treatment with poultry litter (5t/ha), T₅=T₁+T₂+T₃, T₆= T₁+T₂+T₄, T₇= T₁+T₃+T₄, T₈= Control were tested for their performance against the disease. All the treatments showed significantly better performance over the control. The incidence of wilt complex disease of chili ranged from 8.33% – 25.83% while the highest was recorded in the control plot and the lowest was found in treatment T₇. The highest yield (2124 kg/ha) was recorded in treatment T₇ while the lowest was obtained in control plots.

Objectives:

To control the wilt complex disease of chili efficiently.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Ishurdi, Pabna during rabi season 2016-17. The experimental land was well ploughed and properly leveled before bed preparation. Weeds and stubbles were removed from the field. Susceptible Chili variety BARI-Marich-3 was used in this experiment. The experiment was carried out following a randomized complete block design with three replications. The unit plot size was 3 m X 2 m and plant spacing was 40 cm x 40 cm. Seeds were sown on November 05, 2016, and transplanted in the main field on December 22, 2016. Eight treatments viz. T₁= Seedling treatment with Bavistin + Soil drenching with Bavistin @ 0.2%, T₂= Soil application with Stable Bleaching powder @ 20 kg/ha, T₃= Soil application with Calcium Nitrate @ 1% solution, T₄= Soil treatment with poultry litter (5t/ha), T₅=T₁+T₂+T₃, T₆= T₁+T₂+T₄, T₇= T₁+T₃+T₄, T₈= Control were used in this experiment. Recommended fertilizers were applied to raise a good crop. Intercultural operations were done in order to maintain the normal hygienic condition of the crop. The experiment was monitored regularly to observe the onset of wilt complex disease. The last harvest was completed on May 16, 2017. Data were recorded on disease incidence (%), plant height (cm), no. of fruit/plant, wt. of fruits/plant (g) and yield (kg/ha). The recorded data were analyzed statistically to find out the level of significance and the variations among the respective data were compared following Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT).

Achievement/Findings:

Based on the above results combine effect of Seedling treatment with Bavistin + Soil drenching with Bavistin (0.2%) + Soil application with Calcium Nitrate (1% solution) + Soil treatment with poultry litter (5t/ha) could be provided the maximum protection against wilt complex disease of chili and significantly yield increase than other treatments.
