Evaluation of Banana (cv. Sabri Kola) Germplasam (2018-2019)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Burirhat, Rangpur during 2018-19 with a view to find out a suitable banana (Sabri kola) germplasm for releasing as a variety. Five banana (Sabri kola) germplasm viz. MS Bur-001, MS Bur-002, MS Bur-003, MS Bur-004 and MS Bur-005 were included in the study. All the banana germplasm gave flower in this year. The germplasm MS Bur-005 gave the highest yield (31.39-t/ha), which was followed by MS Bur-003 (28.13t/ha), while the lowest yield (18.02t/ha) was obtained from MS Bur-002.

Objectives:

To develop high yield with good quality banana (sabri kola) variety.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Burirhat, Rangpur during 2018-19 with a view to find out a suitable banana (sabri kola) germplasm. Five banana (sabri kola) germplasm viz. MS Bur-001, MS Bur-002, MS Bur-003, MS Bur-004 and MS Bur-005 were included in the study. All the banana germplasm gave flower in this year. The experiment was laid out in randomize complete block design with three replications. The sucker of the banana was planted in July 12, 2018 having a plant spacing of 2m x 2m. Manures and fertilizers were applied as the instruction of Krishi Projukti Hatboi (5^th edition, 2011). Intercultural operations and irrigation were done as and when required. Data on different parameters were recorded and statistically analyzed.

Achievement/Findings:

Considering yield the germplasm MS Bur-005 gave the highest yield (31.39t/ha), which was followed (28.13t/ha) by MS Bur-003, while the lowest yield (18.02t/ha) was in MS Bur-002. The experiment should be continued including more germplasm.
