Evaluation of Phalsa in Hilly Area of Rangamati (2018-2019)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An evaluation trial was conducted on phalsa in hill valley at minor fruits orchard of Hill Agricultural Research Station, Raikhali, Rangamati Hill District during 2018-19. Maximum fruit yield per plant (7.8 kg), fruit length (9.25 mm), TSS (25.5 %) and fruit yield (3.2 t/ha) was found in the germplasm GA Rai-002 on the other hand highest 100 fruit weight (60.2 g) was measured in the germplasm GA Rai-003.

Objectives:

To conserve and find out the superior phalsa germplasm in hilly area.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at hill valley of HARS, Raikhali, Rangamati Hill District during 2018-19. The germplasm were planted during July, 2009. Each of the pits was fertilized with 15 kg decomposed cow dung, 100 g P₂O₅, 18 g S before 15 days of transplanting. This year every plant was fertilized with 15 kg decomposed cow dung, 270 g N, 120 g P and 200 g K per hectare in three equal installments, during March, June and the rest during October. Irrigation, pruning, training, weeding and other protection measure were applied as per necessary. Data were taken duly.

Achievement/Findings:

Maximum fruit yield per plant (7.8 kg), fruit length (9.25 mm), TSS (25.5 %) and fruit yield (3.2 t/ha) was found in the germplasm GA Rai-002 on the other hand highest 100 fruit weight (60.2 g) was measured in the germplasm GA Rai-003. Considering the performance of number of fruits per plant, fruit length and fruit yield the germplasm GA Rai-002 was found promising from this third-year experiment.
