Collection and Evaluation of Phalsa Fruit Germplasms in Chattogram Region (2018-2019)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Pahartali in Chattogram during 2018-19 for the evaluation of two phalsa fruit genotypes. Between this two germplasms only one germplasm namely GA Pah-001 provided fruits which as noted as 950 per plant. The remaining germplasm did not provide fruit during reporting period. The average length and breadth of the fruit were 1.04 cm and 1.26 cm respectively. The TSS was 21.94% and the 100 fruits weight was recorded as 95g.

Objectives:

To find out the suitable variety of phalsa fruit as it is important source of medicinal properties.

Methodology:

Phalsa fruit genotypes were collected from different parts of Bangladesh and planted to the fruit orchard of Agricultural Research Station, Pahartali, Khulshi, Chattogram during 2016-2017. There were two phalsa fruit genotypes viz. GA Pah-001 and GA Pah-002. Manures and fertilizers were applied @ 15 kg cowdung, 500 g urea, 350 g TSP and 400 g MoP per plant per annum in three equal installments. Intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. The performance data of these genotypes were taken duly.
