Evaluation of Cashew Nut Germplasm (2018-2019)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Eight cashew nut germplasm were evaluated at RARS, Hathazari during 2017-18. Maximum nut yield per plant (6.55 kg) was found in AO Hat-004 followed by AO Hat-006 (4.86 kg). Individual nut weight was higher (6.93 g) in AO Hat-004 followed by AO Hat-006 (6.27 g). Considering nut yield and yield contributing characteristics AO Hat-004 and AO Hat-006 is found to be promising.

Objectives:

To find out the suitable genotype of Cashew nut for Chittagong and Chittagong hill tracts area.

Methodology:

Eight cashew nut germplasm were selected from 35 plants in different location on the basis of age, height and bearing at RARS, Hathazari, Chittagong during 2017-18. Fully mature fruits were harvested from plants during May, 2018. Data on Age of plant, Plant height, Base girth, Canopy spread (E-W, N-S), Number of primary branches, Number of secondary branches, First date of flower initiation, Fruit Formation. Shape of Inflorescence, Compactness of flower, Color of flower, Anthesis period, Nut yield/ plant (kg), Individual Nut weight (g), and Edible kernel weight / plant (kg).

Achievement/Findings:
