Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Plant height was ranged from 5.65 m to 5.80 m. Base girth was 60.0 cm to 70.0 cm. The number of branches was highest (5.0) in Acc. no.02 and lowest (2.0) in Acc. no.03. The height of the main trunk varies from 75.0 cm to 115.0 cm. Plant canopy at North-South was 550.0 cm to 570.0 cm and at East-West was 560.0cm to 670.0 cm. Days to 1st flowering observed last week of January 2018 in Acc. no. 2. and it has beared 17 fruits. All the plants are in excellent growing condition.

Objectives:

The present experiment was undertaken to evaluate the tissue cultured jackfruit at RARS, Akbarpur, Moulavibazar

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Akbarpur, Moulavibazar during 2017-2018. Saplings were produced and supplied from the Biotechnology Division of BARI in 2013. Plant spacing was 6x6 m. The individual plant was fertilized with cowdung (20 kg), urea (500 g), TSP (500 g), MP (500 g) and gypsum (250g) in two equal installments, one at the onset and the other at the end of the rainy season. Weeding, irrigation and other management practices were done as and when necessary.

Achievement/Findings:

Plant height was ranged from 560.0 cm to 573.0 cm. The base girth was 60.0 cm to 70.0 cm. The number of branches was highest (5.0) in Acc. no.02 and lowest (02) in Acc. no.03. The height of the main trunk varies from 75.0 cm to 115.0 cm. Plant canopy at north-south was 550.0 cm to 570.0 cm and at east-west was 560.0cm to 670.0 cm. Only Acc. 02 in reproductive stage and days to 1st flowering was last week of January 2018 and it has 17 fruits in the current season which are still immature to harvest. All the plants are in excellent growing condition. Last year Acc.no. 2 produce only two fruits which were harvested in the first week of July. Single fruit weight was found 4.25 kg. The edible portion was observed at 41.17%. TSS% obtained 19.5 respectably.

All the plants of tissue cultured jackfruit are in satisfactory growth condition.
