Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted at PRC, Ishurdi, RARS Jessore, Barisal, RPRS Madaripur and PRSS, Gazipur during Kharif-I, 2017 to find out desirable genotypes of Mungbean. The six Mungbean genotypes viz. BMXK1-10011-3, BMXK1-10012-2, BMXK1-1009-4, BMXK1-1007-5, BMXK1-1007-3 and BARI Mung 6 included in the study. Considering four locations with overall performance and GGE biplot analysis three genotypes BMXK1-10011-3, BMXK1-10012-2 and BMXK1-1009-4 were selected.

Objectives:

The present study was, therefore, undertaken with four promising genotypes and two varieties of Mungbean to investigate their performance in Kharif-I season under three different pulse growing locations

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at PRC, Ishurdi, RARS Jessore, Barishal, RPRS Madaripur and PRSS, Gazipur during Kharif-I, 2017.Six Mungbean genotypes viz. BMXK1-10011-3, BMXK1-10012-2, BMXK1-1009-4, BMXK1-1007-5, BMXK1-1007-3 and BARI Mung 6 was included in the study. The date of the sowing range was 13-2-2017 to 26-3-2017 at a different location. Seeds were planted in unit plot of 1.2 m x 4 m with a row spacing of 40 cm. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with 3 replications. Weeding, irrigation, and other intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. Data of different parameters e.g. days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, pods/plant, seed /pod, 100 seed weight were recorded from randomly selected 10 plants of each unit plot. The yield was calculated from the whole plot and analyzed statistically. Disease reaction for MYMV was also recorded. Data were analyzed by using MS Excel and R-program. Disease severity was recorded at weekly intervals using a 1-6 arbitrary scale

Achievement/Findings:

Different genotypes showed significant variation among studied parameters except days to flowering at Barisal and days to maturity at Gazipur. The Mungbean variety BARI Mung-6 and BMXK1-10007-5 was flowered earlier (38 days). On the other hand, only BARI Mung-6 showed early maturity in respect of all locations (59 days). The highest pods per plant recorded from genotype BMXK1-10012-2 (22) and the lowest from genotype BMXK1-1007-3 (19). The number of pods is an important character for improving yield and it was varied from location to location. In Ishurdi it was ranged 15-20; Jessore, Barisal and Madaripur and Joydebpur it ranged 19-22, 19-24, 23-27 and 17-20 respectively. BMXK1-10012-2 showed the highest number of pods at Barisal and Madaripur. The highest 100- seed weight recorded from the genotypes BMXK1-10009-4 followed by BARI Mung 6. This entry also exhibits the highest seed weight at Ishurdi, Joydebpur and Madaripur. GGE biplot analysis showed that the principal component analysis explained 94.2% of the variation for genotype and for genotype and environment. Among the seven genotypes, the highest number of genotypes in sector 3 and also has two locations. Four genotypes are in the corner of the polygon which is called vertex genotypes. Vertex genotypes always show the highest interaction with the environment compares to others. Among the four locations, Jessore and Barisal have the largest environmental vector which indicates the highest discriminating ability to the environment. Considering yield data on GGE biplot analysis genotypes BMXK1-10011-3, BMXK1-10012-2 and BMXK1-1009-4 showed stable performance over the location.
