Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Four genotypes with one check variety BARI Mung-6 were evaluated at Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna; PRSS, Madaripur, RARS, Rahmatpur, RARS Jessore and Gazipur during Kharif-I, 2017. Considering mean values and GGE biplot analysis over location among the tested entries BMXK1-09012-1, BMXK1-08011 -2 and BMXK1-09015-2 were selected for PVS in the next year.

Objectives:

After evaluation of genotypes in PYT is necessary to evaluate them in the RYT in a single or multiple suitable location(s) to asses their adaptive performance to release as a variety.

Methodology:

Four genotypes BMXK1-09012-1, BMXK1-08011-2, BMXK1-08011-8 and BMXK1-09015-2 of Mungbean including one check variety BARI Mung-6 were evaluated at Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi; PRSS, Joydebpur; RARS, Barisal RPRS, Madaripur and RARS Jessore, during Kharif-I, 2017. The experiment was laid out in an RCB design with three replications and spacing of 40 cm between rows. Each entry was sown in 4 rows of 4m long plot. Spacing between two plots was 50 cm. The date of the sowing range was 13-2-2017 to 26-3-2017 at different locations. Seeds were sown in the rows carefully by hands at 3 cm depth and then covered with soils. Post sowing irrigation was given to ensure seed germination. Mulching was done and soil crusts were broken. Each of the entries was investigated from seedling to harvest and compared with check. From each plot, 10 plants were selected randomly to compute data. Data on different parameters e.g. days to flowering, days to maturity, plant height, pods/plant, seed /pod, 100 seed weight were recorded from randomly selected 10 plants of each unit plot. The yield was calculated from the whole plot and analyzed statistically. Yield data was recorded from the whole plot and converted into kg/ha^-1. Disease reaction for MYMV was also recorded. Data were analyzed by using MS Excel and R-program.

Achievement/Findings:

There was no remarkable variation among the entries regarding days to flower and days to maturity. None of the entries found earlier compared to check. In the case of plant height Joydevpur, Jessore and Barishal did not show significant results. The number of pods per plant did not vary much more except Jessore location. From the mean values over locations, the highest mean number of pods per plant was recorded in check BARI Mung 6 followed by BMXK1-08011-8 and BMXK1-09015-2. None of the entries out yielded over the check was found in BARI Mung 6 which was followed by BMX08011-8 and BMX08011-2. In the case of 100 seed weight, the highest seed weight was found in BMXK1-09012-1 considering mean values over location followed by BMXK1-09015-2 and BMXK1-08011 -2. Yield data was also used for GGE biplot analysis. The yield of each cultivar in a tested environment is a result of the genotypic main effect (G), environmental main effect (E) and genotype × environment (GE) interaction in biplot analysis. GGE biplot technique separates two principal components, PC1 and PC2 and it explained about 99.4% of the variation. The horizontal axis (PC1) indicates the main effect of genotype while the vertical axis (PC2) shows the interaction of genotype and environment which is the basic criterion for judging genotypic stability. Polygon of Biplot analysis showed that among five locations three locations are in sector 2 and 2 locations felt in sector 1. Among five locations Jessore has the highest environmental vector followed by Madaripur and Barisal. Among five genotypes three genotypes are corner of the polygon i.e. these are vertex genotypes. Based on GGE biplot analysis BMXK1-09012-1, BMXK1-08011-2 and BMXK1-09015-2 could be selected for further trials. All the entries showed less reaction to MYMV disease.
