Qualitative variations of 69 grass pea accession for 30 qualitative traits were observed. Sufficient variations were observed among the accessions for eleven qualitative traits viz. seedling vigor, plant growth habit, stem color, leaf color, leaf size, leaflet shape, leaf tendrils, flower size, flower color, pod shape, and seed size. However, no outstanding morphological variations were observed for plant type, stem waxy coating, stem section shape, nodulation activity, number of leaflets/leaf, prominence of leaf vein, pigmentation of leaf vein, leaf petiole color, flower vein color, number of pods/peduncle, pod curvature, pod beak shape, immature pod color, mature pod color, pod pubescence, pod dehiscence, seed shape, seed coat colour, and seed coat surface. The highest variability among the accessions was observed in stem colour viz. light green (16), green (32), purple-green (18), and purple (3). It was followed by seedling vigor, plant growth habit, seed size, leaf colour, flower size, and flower color. Morphological variations were observed among the accessions for 11 qualitative traits viz. seedling vigor, plant growth habit, stem color, leaf color, leaf size, leaflet shape, leaf tendrils, flower size, flower color, pod shape, and seed size.
