The study was conducted at Regional Plant Genetic Resources Center, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Ishurdi, Pabna during the Rabi season of 2019-2020 to characterize the germplasm and regenerate seeds for conservation and to develop a photographic monograph with the descriptor of the collection. The experiment involved 102 lentil accessions. Variations were observed in respect of time to flowering, time to maturity, plant height, number of seeds per pod, 100-seed weight, and yield per plant among lentil accessions. The day to 50% flowering was earlier in BD-3908 (48 days). The earlier maturity was in BD-3819 (105 days) than the other accessions. Variations among lentil accessions were observed in different qualitative characteristics like plant pigmentation were observed in stems, leaves, and flowers. Maximum Seedling stem pigmentation was present for 47 accessions (46.08%) and absent for 55 accessions (53.92%). Variations in tendril length were a prominent maximum of 43 accessions (42.16%) and rest lines were in rudimentary maximum 59 accessions (57.84%). The flower ground colour was white maximum for 78 accessions (76.47%), white with blue veins for 8 accessions (7.84%) and the rest were in violet for 3 accessions (3.12%). The pattern of testa was absent for 1 accession (0.98%), dotted for 70 accessions (68.63%), spotted for 6 accessions (5.88%) where rest were in marbled for 25 accessions (24.51%). Colour pattern of testa was absent for 1 accession (0.98%), grey for 20 accessions (19.61%), brown for 65 accessions (63.73%), and where rest were in the black for 16 accessions (15.69%). Cotyledon colour was yellow for 1 accession (0.98%), orange-red for 99 accessions (97.06%) and the rest were in olive-green for 2 accessions (1.96%) observed. Variations among lentil accessions were also found in different quantitative characteristics. The number of pods per plant varied from 65.00 to 356.67 and BD-3896 produced significantly the highest number of pods per plant (356.67). The number of seeds per plant varied from 134.00 to 686.67. Among them, 31 accessions were the highest number of seeds per plant (400.00-686.67), 52 accessions were moderate number seeds per plant (201.33-386.67) and the rest accessions were the lowest (130.00-195.33). BD-3888 produced significantly the highest number of seeds per plant (686.67) among them. Yield varied from 1.91 g to 13.50 g per plant and the highest seed yield (13.50 g/ per plant) was recorded from BD-3904 lentil accession and the lowest yield (1.91 g/ per plant) from BD-3832 lentil accession.

The experiment of lentil was conducted to ensure timely identification of lentil germplasm with inadequate lines quality or quantity of seed, to produce a new seed sample. It is necessary to periodically regenerate the lentil germplasm seed accessions so as to maintain optimal seed viability over the long-term seed stock.

The experiment was conducted at Regional Plant Genetic Resources Center, RARS, Ishurdi, Pabna during the rabi season 2019-2020. The experiment involves one hundred lentil accessions and two BARI varieties (BARI lentil-6 & BARI lentil-7) were used as check variety. The experiment was laid out a partial balance lattice. Unit plot size was 4m x 1m and seeds were sown in rows with a spacing of 40 cm. The seeds were sown on 17 November 2019. Fungicide, insecticide, and other intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. Five plants were selected randomly from middle rows of each entry. Data were recorded on plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, 100 seed weight, and yield from each plant. Grain yield was recorded per plant after harvest according to lentil descriptors from IBPGR and ICARDA (1985). Data were analyzed statistically by partial balance lattice with computer and the means were separated.

The experiment comprised one hundred lentil germplasm and two BARI varieties (BARI lentil-7 & BARI lentil-8) were used as check variety. Qualitative characteristics of 102 accessions were recorded. Seedling stem pigmentation was present for 47 accessions (46.08%) and absent for 55 accessions (53.92%). Leaf pubescence was absent for 2 accessions (1.96%), slight for 16 accessions (43.14%) and dense for 84 accessions (82.35%). Leaflet size was medium for 44 accessions (43.14%), large for 53 accessions (51.96%) and the rest lines were small for 5 accessions (4.90%). Tendril length was rudimentary for 43 accessions (42.16%) and rest lines were in a prominent maximum of 59 accessions (57.84%). The flower ground colour was white maximum for 78 accessions (76.47%), white with blue veins for 8 accessions (7.84%) and the rest were in violet for 3 accessions (3.12%). Pod shedding was none for 4 accessions (3.92%), low for 46 accessions (45.10%), where medium for 45 accessions (44.12%) and rest were in high for 7 accessions (6.86%). Ground colour of testa was green for 2 accessions (1.96%), grey for 14 accessions (13.73%), brown for 66 accessions (64.71%) and the rest were in pink for 20 accessions (19.61%). The pattern of testa was absent for 1 accession (0.98%), dotted for 70 accessions (68.63%), spotted for 6 accessions (5.88%) where rest were in marbled for 25 accessions (24.51%). Colour pattern of testa was absent for 1 accession (0.98%), grey for 20 accessions (19.61%), brown for 65 accessions (63.73%) and where the rest were in the black for 16 accessions (15.69%).
