The experiment was conducted in the Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna during 2015-16 to find out the effective fungicides in controlling stemphylium blight of lentil. Four fungicides and their combination were tested for their efficacy against the disease. All the fungicides showed significantly better performance over control. Stemphylium blight disease severity ranged from 0 to 5 on the rating scale. The lowest severity was observed in combined treatment of Nativo (Tebuconazole 50%+ trifdoxystrobin 25%) and Folicur (Tebuconazole 0.5%), (0.3) sprayed plots and the highest severity (5) was recorded in untreated control plots. The highest yield (940.4 kg/ha) was obtained from the combined treatment of Nativo and Folicur sprayed plots while the lowest (543.6 kg/ha) was in the untreated control. Economic analysis revealed that the maximum profit (22771) was obtained from Folicur among the fungicides.

The present study was conducted to search for new fungicides in contrast with Rovral for management of stemphylium blight of lentil

The experiment was conducted in the Pulses Research Centre, Ishurdi, Pabna, during 2015-16. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The plot size was 4 m x 3 m and the distance between the two rows was 40 cm. The seeds of BARI Masur-1 were sown continuously in rows on November 08, 2015. Six fungicidal treatments viz. T1= Rovral 50 wp 0.2% (Ipridione), (2g/L), T2= Secure 60 wg 0.2% (Mancozeb 50%+ Phenamidione 10%), (2g/L), T3= Nativo 75 wp 0.2% (Tebuconazole 50% + trifdoxystrobin 25%), (2g/L), T4= Folicur EW 250 0.5% (Tebuconazole), @ 1ml/L, T5= Rovral + Secure, (2g/L), T6= Nativo + Folicur, @ (1g +1ml)/L and T7= Secure + Folicur, (1g +1ml)/L and T8=Untreated control (water spray). 148 Intercultural operations were done in order to maintain the normal hygienic condition of the crop. Weeding was done two times during the period of crop growth. One weeding was done at 20 days and another 50 days after sowing. Fungicides were sprayed four times starting from the first appearance of the disease and continued at an interval of 7 days. Control plots were sprayed with water. The experiment was monitored regularly to observe the onset of Stemphylium blight disease. Before total harvesting of the crop, 10 plants were picked up randomly from each plot for recording data of plant height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, the weight of seeds per plant, 500 seed weight and grain yield of each plot were recorded and converted it kg/ha. Disease severity scale (0-5) was used for rating of Stemphylium blight as 0 = No infection, 1 = Few scattered leaf infections but no twig blighted, 2 = 5–10% leaflet infection and/or few scattered 1% twigs blighted, 3 = 11–20% leaflet infection and/or 1–5 % twigs blighted, 4 = 21– 50% leaflet infection and/or 6–10 % twigs blighted and 5 = 51% leaflet infection and/or = 10% twigs blighted developed by Bakr and Ahmed (1992). The data were analyzed statistically using GenStat version 17 for calculating the mean values and for the test of significance. The variations among treatments were compared following Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT).

Stemphylium blight disease incidence scale ranged from 1.00-5.00 which differed significantly among the tested fungicides. The lowest severity (1.9) was observed in combined treatment of Nativo and Folicur (0.3) sprayed plots which were statistically identical to individual treatment of Nativo (0.3) and Folicur (0.5) with the highest severity (5) in untreated control plots. The highest yield (940.4) was obtained from combined treatment of Nativo and Folicur sprayed plots which showed no significant difference with the individual treatment of Rovral (916.6) and Folicur (900.7). The lowest yield (543.6) was recorded in the untreated control. In regards to yield contributing parameter significantly highest plant height (42.4), number of pods/plant (46.5), number of seeds/plant (1.8), 500 seeds weight (8.6) was observed in combined treatment of Nativo and Folicur. The lowest of all these parameters were obtained from untreated control. Economic analysis among the fungicidal treatments against stemphylium blight demonstrated that the application of folicure has provided the maximum return of 22771 taka.
