Researches show that the indigenous knowledge of medicinal plants by human being is decreasing in alarming rate. In order to conserve traditional medicine knowledge, it is necessary that inventories of plants with therapeutic value are carried out, and the knowledge related to their use documented in systemic studies. These studies can have other values too for society besides conserving traditional knowledge, for they can help to identify plants with market potential that can generate incomes for local communities. The distribution of knowledge and services are hierarchically placed. Identification of local name, scientific name, family, chemical constituents and theraputic activities of medicinal plants are presented in that project documenting of the pharmacological information could trigger in undertaking conservational activities of these plants based on their potential source in seeking new medicinal active compounds. In this survey, it is showed that Ethnopharmacological information on indigenous knowledge of medicinal plants has broader importance and Nuhas palli will be a great resource for the phytochemists for the investigations of medicinally active compounds.

  Medicinal Plants

Traditional knowledge provides useful leads for scientific research, being the key to identifying those elements in a plant with a pharmacological value that is ultimately destined for the international markets. Indeed, such traditional knowledge is very valuable. Due to the lack of modern communications, as well as poverty, ignorance and unavailability of modern health facilities, most people especially rural people are still forced to practice traditional medicines for their common day ailments. A vast knowledge of how to use the plants against different illnesses may be expected to have accumulated in areas where the use of plants is still of great importance.

The main aims of that survey is identify, collect the photo of all plant species including those associated with national traditions and culture and then resolve their chemical constituents and therapeutic properties from various journal. That type of survey plays an important role in the study of medicinal plants, study of botany, research and development of important which has therapeutic value and conservation of biodiversity. The documentation of the plant is a national property that goes down to the posterity through generations for hundreds of years and work as reference materials on the flora of the country.

Amidst the verdant landscape of Gazipur (Mirzapur Union), lies a wonderland called 'Nuhash Palli'. Humayun Ahmed's Nuhash Palli is a place where the eminent writer has built a retreat unlike any other. Hundreds throng the site, which is also used as a shooting spot, each day to get a glimpse of the 'world of Humayun Ahmed'. No ticket required. All that needs to be done to gain entry is to convince the security personnel. The lucky ones visiting the site may also come face to face with the writer, who is never hesitant to strike up a conversation. If Lady Luck does not shine, there might still be a filming on inside the premises, which is open for viewing.

Humayun Ahmed introduces first-timers to Nuhash Palli with its wide variety of flora. Once, officials from the Forest Department came to visit, and were amazed by plants that were not even in their own collection. They later borrowed some tree samples from the writer and gifted an entire orange garden, recalls Ahmed.

Although it may sound strange to most people, Nuhash Palli has trees “specially designated for ghosts,” according to Ahmed.

The site is built inside a forest of dense Shaal and Gojari trees. To come here, one has to get off the bus near Hotapara, on the way towards Mymensingh. The distance from Dhaka GPO to Hotapara is around 40 kilometers. From there, a Taka 150-200 ride on a CNG three-wheeler will take one to Nuhash Palli.

A sculpture of a woman standing with her child welcomes visitors. A few steps ahead a small pool with crystal clear water splashes a tempting invitation for a dip. A brick house which looks as it is made of mud, stands next. This is where Ahmed stays when he visits Nuhash Palli. A garden adds to the aesthetic appeal of the house, while a living room-library acts as the centre of all adda.

Among the celebrities who have paid visits to Nuhash Palli are West Bengal writers Sunil Gangopadhyay (who took a dip in the pool) and Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay.

Finally, we can say that any kind of survey is beneficial for getting the real condition of any particular objective.Supply of all information about the flora of a country depends on survey or statistics. Without a survey or statistics, plant identification, scientific naming, and studies on distribution and statistics of plants of a country can not be done. So it is not also possible to get a real picture of plant resources of a country without any study regarding that. Without the assistance of a study it is never possible to determine the distribution or conduct research on unknown or important plant species. Establishing the historical depth of medicinal plant use is relevant from a variety of perspectives. Not only would it show definitely that indigenous cultures have an in depth knowledge of certain botanical taxa, which has been transmitted over centuries prior to it becoming important in the context of developing novel pharmaceuticals, but as importantly, such research would demonstrate the historical development of an intricate relationship between a culture and its environment. So looking for new medicinal compounds from natural sources, especially plants, makes a great deal of sense and leads to savings of both time and money. When native healers from indigenous societies can be recruited to assist in these efforts, the success rates are even higher.
