The performance of mechanical rice transplanter was evaluated during Aus 2011 season at BRRI Gazipur. The average field capacity of the walking and riding type rice transplanter was 75 decimal/hr and 180 decimal/hr respectively. Transplanting of seedlings in row, placement of seedlings at proper depth was found uniform. Row to row distance and plant to plant distance was found uniform. There was no missing and damaged hill per square meter whereas a single number of floating and buried hill per square meter was found one during operation.

To evaluate the field performance of mechanical Rice Transplanter

Korean made walking and riding type mechanical rice transplanter, procured under NATP funded sub-project “Development and Validation of USG Applicator and Rice Transplanter” was tested in BRRI research field during T. Aus, 2011 using BR26. During test, flexible plastic tray (58 x 28 x 2.5 cm) was used to raise seedling for the transplanter. 12 days older seedling with 3-4 leaves was used in this experiment. Land size of the experimental plot was 375 m2. Land was prepared and leveled by power tiller. After land preparation, the field was kept two days for soil settlement. 1-2 cm standing water was maintained during field operation. Seeds were soaked into fresh water for 24 hrs and stir them. After 24 hours, the shocked paddy was kept in warm condition one day for sprouting and then sows in the tray for seedling.

The average field capacity of the transplanter was 75 decimal/hr and 180 decimal/hr respectively. The field operation of this machine was found satisfactory. Transplanting of seedlings, placement of seedlings and depth of seedling placement were found satisfactory. Row to row distance and plant to plant distance was found uniform.
