The experiment was conducted at Spices Research Centre, BARI, Shibgonj, Bogra during rabi Season 2011-2012.Fifteen different collected garlic lines were evaluated based on their yield and other desirable characters. Among the lines, the highest yield (9.18 t/ha) was obtained from GC0034 and the lowest (2.25 t/ha) from GC0035. Disease severity (purple leaf spot) was also lower in GC0034 line.

Variety and Species
To collect and evaluate to select the lines with high yield potential.
The evaluation study was conducted at Spices Research Centre, Bogra during rabi 2011-2012. The experiment was laid out in RCBD design with three replications. The unit plot size was 4 m x 1.2 m. The spacing was 10 cm x 10 cm. The land was fertilized with cowdung, urea, TSP, MP and Gypsum @ 5 tons, 217, 267, 333 and 111kg per hectare, respectively. The entire quantity of cowdung, TSP, MP, Gypsum and half of urea were applied during land preparation. Remaining Urea was applied in two equal splits at 25 and 50 days after sowing. The cloves were planted on 20 October 2011. The other intercultural operations such as weeding and irrigation were given as and when necessary. The crop was harvested on 18 March 2012. Data on different morphological and yield contributing characters were collected and analyzed statistically.
Spice Research Report 2011-12
The yield and yield contributing characters of different garlic germplasm are shown in Table-1. Significant variations were observed among the lines in respect of plant height, no. of leaves/plant, bulb length, bulb width, length of cloves, width of cloves, yield/plant and yield/ha. The highest yield was obtained from GC0034 (9.18 t/ha) and the lowest from GC0035 (2.25 t/ha). Disease severity (purple leaf spot) was also lower in GC0034. The line GC0034, GC0018, GCOO24 gave comparable yield with GC0034 that may be selected for PYT in the next year.
