Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The field operation of this machine was found satisfactory. There was no missing and damaged hill per square meter whereas floating and buried hill per square meter was found one during operation. Transplanting of seedlings in row, placement of seedlings at proper depth was uniform.

Objectives:

To evaluate the field performance of mechanical Rice Transplanter

Methodology:

A Korean made mechanical rice transplanter, imported by The metal (Pvt.) ltd, was tested in BRRI research field during T. Aman, 2010 using BRRI dhan49. During test, flexible plastic tray (58 x 28 x 2.5 cm) was used to raise seedling for the transplanter. 12-15 days older seedling with 3-4 leaves was used in this experiment. Land size of the experimental plot was 375 m2. Land was prepared and leveled by power tiller. After land preparation, the field was kept two days for soil settlement. 1-3 cm standing water was maintained during field operation. Seeds were soaked into fresh water for 24 hrs and stir them. After 24 hours, the shocked paddy was kept in warm condition one day for sprouting and then sows in the tray for seedling. FMPHT division of BRRI in collaboration with The metal (Pvt.) ltd. worked as a team for testing and evaluation of the transplanter.

Achievement/Findings:

The average field capacity of the transplanter was 37.5decimal/hr. The field operation of this machine was found satisfactory. Transplanting of seedlings, placement of seedlings and depth of seedling placement were found satisfactory. Row to row distance and plant to plant distance was found uniform.
