CHILLI , HYBRIDIZATION, HOT, PERFORMANCE
The trial was conducted during October, 2011 to march, 2012 at Regional Spices Research Centre, BARI, Joydebpur, Gazipur. It was a non-replicated trial with single row system maintaining isolation by netting of some selected plants, Chilli lines CO446, CO446-1, C0525, CO610, CO611, CO614 and BARI Morich-1 were used for the study. The land was fertilized with cowdung, urea, TSP, MOP and Borax at the rate of 5ton, 260kg, 300kg, 200kg and 3kg per hectare respectively. The entire quantity of cowdung, TSP and half of MOP were applied during final land preparation. Remaining urea and half of MOP were applied at 60, 80, and 110 days after transplanting. Seedlings of 32 days old were transplanted maintaining a distance of 75 cm from one plant to another. Different intercultural operations like weeding, watering, spraying of fungicides and insecticides etc. were done as and when necessary. Data on plant height, spreading, no. and weight of fruits, fruit length and diameter, appearance of the fruit etc. were recorded. Fruits from netted plants were harvested at red ripe stage, dried and stored separately.
Different fruit and yield contributing characters of tested lines are furished in Table-1. All the tested lines were found promising. All lines possess of semi-spreading type. Height of different lines varies from 64.5cm to 106.5 cm. Number of red ripe fruit was recorded from 266(BARI Morich-1) to 398(C0611). Highest yield was recorded from the line CO610 and it was 26.61 t/ha, while the lowest (11.52 t/ha) from the line CO611. Almost 85% purity of these lines has achieved. Potential lines will be used further for seed increases and will put for Regional adaptability trials as well as desired charactered lines will be used for hybrid development.
