Survey and collection of turmeric germplasms were conducted at Faridpur and Rajbari district. The local landraces and Primitive crop cultivars/germplasm were mostly collected. A total of 9 germplasms of turmeric were collected during 2011-12.

To select the promising lines of Turmeric from the collected lines.
This year we have explored Faridpur and Rajbari district. However, the collector’s team was equipped with cameras, hand lens, seed, knife, scissors, pencil, stapler etc. Necessary information was recorded on the passport data sheet. The sample was collected as seeds and fruit, individual plant or population. Sites for collecting the germplasm in target area were selected considering the nature of crop, availability of germplasm and communication.

A total of 9 (nine) germplasms namely Ada gaita, Horin Bala, Horin Kaina and 6 local germplasms were collected from Faridpur and Rajbari districts. The collected rhizomes were planted in the field and they were in germination stage
