Development and Adoption of Str1 Dryer in Bangladesh

Achievement/Findings:

The initial moisture content was 13.5%. After four and half hours of drying the moisture content was reached to 11.8%. The drying rate was 0.37% per hour. The initial moisture content of black gram was 14.9% for the second batch. After 3.75 hours of drying it was reached to 11.6%. The drying rate was 0.88% per hour. It was understood from the miller that the color of the black gram would indicate right moisture level, which was below 12%. The better result was found after closing the hot air chamber on the top of the motor. Use of this dryer for drying different crops would draw more attention to the farmers and millers producing value added products like pulses after the modifications suggested in the recommendations.
