Information on double parboiled (DP) rice was collected from Badamtali Ghat, Dhaka survey for quality analysis. No bad odor was detected and grains were found in good appearance. Head yield for the samples were above 92% except for BR-8 (89.1%).

Information on double parboiled (DP) rice was collected through market survey of rice traders in Badamtali Ghat, Dhaka and some available milled rice samples were collected from them for quality analysis. Based on this, production areas of DP rice were selected and research will be carried out for quality analysis of DP rice. Head, broken yields, chalky grains and foreign matter of collected samples were recorded. Organoleptic tests were carried out. Grain hardness was measured by the grain Hardness Tester.

Physical appearances were found good and no smell was detected in all of the studied samples. Moisture content slightly varied among the samples and it was found to be with in the range 12.5 to 13.3% (w.b). Although head yield was above 92% irrespective of all varieties, highest percentage was recorded for BR-3, which might be due the coarse variety. It was found lowest (89.1%) for BR8 due to the higher percentage broken rice compared to the other varieties. Crushing strength (CS) and full crushing strength (FCS) of parboiled rice varied among the rice varieties. It was lowest for Pajam and highest for the BR3 variety. It was noticed that when CS value increased FCS value was also increased.
