Combined analysis was carried out for grain yield(t/ha), days to tasseling, days to silking, daya to maturity, plant height and ear height with 9 genotypes across five different locations. Mean sum of square obtained from combined analysis of variance showed the presence of genetic variability among the genotypes and environments for all the characters under studied except for genotype in days to maturity. From the overall mean yield and other desirable characters four entries were found promising across locations and need further evaluation in larger plots in farmers field.

Variety and Species
To evaluate locally developed hybrids in Bangladesh conditions and to select the best one(s).
The experiment was conducted at five locations viz. Joydebpur, Burirhat, Jamalpur, Hathazari and Rahmatpur during rabi 2009-2010. Six locally developed hybrids and three local checks, viz. NK-40, Pacific 984 and BARI Hybrid Maize7 (BHM 7), were evaluated in this trial. Seeds were sown on November 11, 21, 20, 23 and 25, respectively, at Joydebpur, Burirhat, Jamalpur, Hathazari and Rahmatpur following RCBD with 3 replications. The unit plot size was 5.0 X 1.5 m. Spacing adopted was 75 X 20 cm between rows and hill, respectively. One healthy seedling per hill was kept after proper thinning. Fertilizers were applied @ 250,120,120,40and 5 kg/ha of N, P205, K20, S and Zn, respectively. All intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. Data on days to 50% tasseling and silking were recorded on whole plot basis. Ten randomly selected plants were used for recording observations on plant and ear height. All the plants in two rows were considered for plot yield. Combined analysis was done for grain yield, days to tasseling, days to silking, plant height and ear height.
Research report 2009-10
Combined analysis of variance showed the presence of genetic variability among the genotypes and environments for grain yield(t/ha), days to tasseling, days to silking, daya to maturity, plant height and ear height with 9 genotypes across five different locations except for genotype in days to maturity.Considering the yield potentiality and other desirable characters four entries viz. BMS08-15, BMS08-22, BMS08-28 and BMS08-33 were found promising across locations and need to be further evaluated in large plots in farmers field.
