The trial was conducted at Spices Research Centre, BARI Shibgonj, Bogra during rabi season of 2012-2013 to evaluate the germplasm which collected from different sources and to identify the best germplasm with high yield and other desirable characters. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. Sixteen different fenugreek lines (FK01, FK07, FK08, FK09, FK012, FK014, FK015, FK016, FK017, FK018, FK021, FK022, FK023, FK024, FK025, and FK027) were evaluated against recommended variety BARI Fenugreek-2. Among the germplasm, FK022 produced the highest plant height (69.73 cm), FK016 produced the highest pods/plant (67.60), and FK021 showed the highest seeds/pod (16.8) FK024 produced the highest 1000 seed weight (12.73 g). The highest seed yield was recorded from FK015 (1.53 t/ha) which was identical to FK012, FK014 and FK023. The lowest yield was recorded from FK016 (0.96 t/ha) and FK017 (0.95 t/ha).

To evaluate fifteen different available fenugreek lines to select better performing one.
The study was conducted at Spices Research Centre, BARI, Shibgonj, Bogra during rabi season of 2012-2013 to evaluate the germplasm which collected from different sources and to identify the best germplasm with high yield and other desirable characters. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. Sixteen different fenugreek lines (FK01, FK07, FK08, FK09, FK012, FK014, FK015, FK016, FK017, FK018, FK021, FK022, FK023, FK024, FK025 and FK027) were evaluated against recommended variety BARI Fenugreek-2. The unit plot size was 3m x 1.5m. The spacing was 25cm x 10cm. The land was fertilized with cowdung at the rate of 5 t/ha with N80P35K70S20 kg/ha. The entire quantity of cowdung, P, K and S were applied during final land preparation. N was applied in two equal splits one half of N was applied at 15 days after germination and the other half was applied in flowering stage followed by irrigation. The seeds were sown on 13 November 2012 and were harvested on 20 March 2013. Weeding, irrigation and other intercultural operations were done as per necessity. Data on plant height, primary branch/plant, pods/plant, seeds/pod, pod length, 1000 seed weight and seed yield were recorded. The collected data were statistically analyzed and mean were separated by DMRT.

There were significant variations among the lines in respect of plant height (cm), primary branches/plant, pods/plant, seeds/plant, 1000 seed weight (g) and seed yield (t/ha). Among the lines, FK022 produced the highest plant height (69.73 cm), FK016 produced the highest pods/plant (67.60), FK021 showed the highest seeds/pod (16.8), FK024 produced the highest 1000 seed weight (12.73 g). The highest seed yield was recorded from FK015 (1.53 t/ha) which was identical to FK012 (1.41 t/ha), FK014 (1.26 t/ha) and Fk 023 (1.29t/ha). The lowest yield was recorded from FK016 (0.96 t/ha) and FK017 (0.95 t/ha).
This implies that there are enough opportunities select line(s) for advance study and selection of variety (s) from the tested materials. However, the germplasm FK015, FK012, FK014 and FK023 may be selected for advance study.
