The present study assessed genotype environment interaction (GEI) and stability for days to tasseling, days to silking, days to maturity, plant height, ear height, days to maturity, 1000 grain weight (g) and grain yield of 24 hybrids including two local checks across five different locations of Bangladesh during 2009-10. The AMMI model (additive main effects and multiplicative interaction) and GGE model (genotypes+genotypes × environment) were used to assess the additive and multiplicative effects of the interaction. Significant variation for genotypes (G), environment (E) and GEI were found for all the characters. The environment Chittagong, Barishal and Gazipur are poor and Isurdi and Rangpur are rich environments for hybrid maize production. Considering the mean, bi and S2di three parameters, it was evident that all the genotypes showed different response of adaptability under different environmental conditions. Among the hybrids E7, E12 and E14 exhibited bi~1 and S2di~0 for all the characters, indicated that the hybrids are stable across the environment

Variety and Species
The objective of this study was to test the performance of CIMMYT developed hybrids, under different agro-ecological zones of Bangladesh and select better one(s).
The experiment was conducted at five locations viz. Barishal, Chittagong, Gazipur, Ishurdi and Rangpur during rabi 2009-10. Twenty two CIMMYT developed white hybrids and two local checks, viz. BARI Hybrid Maize 5 (BHM 5) and BARI Hybrid Maize 7 (BHM 7) was evaluated in this trial. Seeds were sown on 08 November to December, 2009 at 5 locations following Alpha lattice design with 3 replications. The unit plot size was 5.0 X 1.5 m. Spacing adopted was 75 X 20 cm between rows and hill, respectively. One healthy seedling per hill was kept after proper thinning. Fertilizers were applied @ 250,120,120,40and 5 kg/ha of N, P205, K20, S and Zn, respectively. Standard agronomic practices were followed (Quayyum, 1993) and plant protection measures were taken as required. Two border rows were used for minimize the border effect.
Research report2009-10
Considering the mean, bi and S2di three parameters, it was evident that all the genotypes showed different response of adaptability under different environmental conditions. Among the hybrids E7, E12 and E14 exhibited bi~1 and S2di~0 for all the characters, indicated that the hybrids are stable across the environment
