A field experiment was conducted at SRC, Bogra during Rabi season 2012-2013 to test the performance of chilli germplasm against thrips and mite. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with the three replications. Nine genotype (C0428, C0575, C0578-4, C0587, C0578-2, C0613, C0578-1, C0614 and C0578-3) were evaluated against thrips and mite. The lowest number of thrips (4.90 thrips/3leaves) and mite (2.43mite/3leaves) population was recorded in the chilli line CO578-4 followed by CO578-1and CO428. Significantly the highest number of thrips (13.41 thrips/3leaves) and mite (13.17 mite/3leaves) population was recorded in the chilli line CO614 followed by CO5751 and CO613. Highest yield (8.63 t/ha) was obtained from the chilli line CO578-4. Chilli line CO578-4 also showed moderate level of tolerance against chilli leaf curl virus (CLCV) offering the lowest virus infection (6.07%).

To screen different germplasm against thrips and mite.
A field experiment was conducted at SRC, Bogra during Rabi season 2012-13 to test the performance of chilli germplasm against thrips and mite. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with the three replications. The unit plot size was 2.5m x 1m and spacing was 25cm x 20cm. Nine genotype (C0428, C0575, C0578-4, C0587, C0578-2, C0613, C0578-1, C0614 and C0578-3) were selected out against thrips and mite. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with the three replications. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with the three replications. In addition to 5 t/ha of cow dung, the crop was fertilized with N95P66 K100 S20 kg/ha. The entire quantity of cow dung, P, 1/3 K and S was applied during land preparation. The rest of N and K will be applied in three at 25, 50 and 70 DAT. Data were recorded on disease incidence (%virus infected plant) where the number of total and infected plant per plot was counted at weekly interval and % virus infected plants were calculated later on. Thrips and mites population counting was done from three leaves/plant of randomly selected five plants/ plot with the help of magnifying glass and stereo-microscope. All recommended agronomic practices were followed in the production of chill. Yield data of green chilli were recorded. Data on thrips and mite population and yield were taken and analyzed using MSTAT program and mean values were separated by DMRT.

In contrast the chilli line C0613, C0614 and C0575 exhibited highly susceptible to chilli leaf curl virus (CLCV) offering 51.95%, 57.97%, and 56.53% virus infected plants, respectively.
The lowest number of thrips and mite population was observed in chilli line CO578-4 followed by CO578-1 and highest number of those insects are found in C0614 line.
