The experiment was conducted at Spices Research Centre, BARI, Bogra during April, 2012 to January, 2013. BARI Turmeric-1 was sown on 28 April (Saturday), 2012 in plot of size 4 m x 2.4 m with spacing 60 cm x 25 cm. The design was RCBD with three (3) replications. The treatments were T1= Sunvit, T2= Zineb, T3= Ridomil Gold, T4= Bavistin, T5 = Antracol, T6 =Bordeaux mixture, T7= Tilt-250 EC, T8= Cabriotop and T9= control (no spraying). The soil was sandy-loam in texture. The land was fertilized with cowdung, N, P, K, S and Zn at the rate of 10 t/ha, 100, 36, 85, 20 and 2.0 kg per hectare, respectively. The entire quantity of cowdung, P, S, Zn and K were applied as basal dose. Half of N was applied at 50 days after planting. Remaining N and K was applied as top dress in two equal splits at 80 and 120 days after planting. Fungicides were used only as foliar application. A total of four times (first time foliar spray was done after 110 days after seed sowing, second time foliar spray was done after 125 days after seed sowing, third time foliar spray was done after 140 days after seed sowing and fourth time foliar spray was done after 155 days after seed sowing) foliar spray were done with 15 days interval beginning first appearance of the disease symptom. Data were taken 15 days after application of treatment. Weeding was done at 15, 30, 45 and 55 DAE. Three earthing up was done following weeding. Data on number of plants/m2, number of healthy plants/m2, number of leaf blotch infected plants/m2, percent disease infected plants/m2, disease severity (0-5 scale), percent disease reduction over control and yield (t/ha) were recorded. Harvesting of the crop was done on 29 January 2013.
Annual Research Report 2012-13, Spice Research Center, BARI, Shibganj, Bogra
. The lowest (9.56) number of leaf blotch infected plants/m2 were found in sunvit treated plot and highest (14.34) number of leaf blotch infected plants/m2 were found in control plot. The lowest (39.56%) percent of disease infection was found from Sunvit treated plot and highest (65.67%) percent disease infection was found in control plot. The disease severity was lowest (3.00) in sunvit treated plot where as the highest disease severity (4.00) was found in control plot. Highest (18.44%) percent disease reduction over control was found in sunvit treated plot and the lowest (7.89%) was found in Cabriotop treated plot. The highest yield (28.60 t/ha) was obtained from sunvit treated plot and the lowest yield (17.53 t/ha) was found in control
Foliar spray by Sunvit can reduce leaf blotch disease of turmeric and increase the yield.
