A system dynamic model was developed for different types of vehicles used in BARI. The model was validated with the relevant data of five years (1998-2003). The system dynamic model was run using the software Stella. The model successfully run with given data and estimated different parameters accurately.

(i) To develop a system dynamic model to predict the repair and maintenance cost of vehicle used in BARI
(ii) To validate the model with the actual data
A system dynamic model was developed for different types of vehicles e.g. diesel and petrol operated jeeps, bus, minibus, microbus and pickup of different models and brands used in BARI. Then the relevant data on repairing cost, maintenance cost, total run (km), amount of fuel and oil used of five years (1998-2003) were collected from the respective logbook and repair and maintenance history book of the vehicles. The system dynamic model was run using the software 'Stella'. Then the model was validated with the actual data collected from Transport Pool, BARI, Gazipur. The observed data reasonably fitted well with the simulated data for different vehicles.

(i) Cumulative operating cost of diesel jeep was higher than those of petrol jeep
(ii)The cumulative operating cost of Isuzu bus was found higher than that of Tata bus
(iii)The repair and maintenance costs of vehicles were remained almost constant for normal running time
(iv)The repair and maintenance cost of petrol jeep was found lower than the diesel jeep.
