Development of Multicrop Power Thresher (mpt-1)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An economic study of BRRI multi crop thresher had been accomplished which showed that the Break Even Point (BEP) is 100 hrs/yr of operation and Pay Back Period (PBP) is 9 months.

Objectives:

The multi-crop thresher was designed and developed the FMPHT research workshop, BRRI. Modification was made on the oscillating screen and blower in the thresher for proper cleaning of the grain. Achievement/Findings:

The durability test of the thresher was performed during Aus and Aman 1990. The result was satisfactory. No major break down was observed during the test. An oscillating type screen separator was designed, manufactured and incorporated to the thresher for grain cleaning. A new type of blower was developed to match the screen separator. The additional cost of the separator is Tk 500. An economic study had been accomplished which showed that the Break Even Point (BEP) is 100 hrs/year of operation and Pay Back period (PBP) is 9 months.
