Effect of Variable Doses of Different Fungicides for Controlling Sett Borne Diseases of Sugarcane Under Madhupur Tract

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

An experiment was conducted at Kapasia, Gazipur under Madhupur Tract during 2007-08 cropping season to identify the effectiveness of different fungicides at variable doses against sett borne disease of sugarcane. There were three fungicides namely Bavistin 50 WP, Genuine 50 WP and Evazim 50 WP used in 1 g/l water, 1.5 g/l water and 2g/l of water solutions. Bavistin 50WP at 2g/l water showed higher (56.04) germination percent, which significantly differed with Evazim 50WP in different concentrations. However, incase of cane yield and yield contributing characters all parameter showed insignificant results.

Objectives:

1. Finding out effective fungicide and its dose for controlling sett borne diseases and keeping setts free from the attack of pathogen and ensure good germination of sugarcane for Madhupur Tract.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at kapasia, Gazipur under Madhupur Tract during the cropping season 2007-08 to identify the effectiveness of different fungicides at variable doses against sett borne disease of sugarcane. The fungicidal (Bavistin 50 WP, Genuine 50 WP and Evazim 50 WP used in 1 g/l water, 1.5 g/l water and 2g/l of water) solutions was prepared and sett treatment were done. Two buded setts of variety Isd 18/ Isd 28 was used for this purpose. The experiment was designed in RCB following two factors with three replications. Germination of setts were recorded at 30, 45 and 60 days after planting.

Achievement/Findings:

The sugarcane growers will be used fungicides with proper doses to control sett rot diseases. It will be helpful for the farmer’s to save their crop from affecting soil and air borne pathogen.
