Different dates of sowing had significant effect on yield and yield contributing characters of mungberan. The highest grain yield (1439 kg/ha) was found in 10 March date of sowing followed by 20 March and the lowest yield (1068 kg/ha) was obtained by 30 March date of sowing. But the highest bio-mass (7.79 t/ha) was found in 30 March date of sowing follwed by 20 March and the lowest (2.89 t/ha) was in 1 March. Different varieties had significant effect on yield and yield contributing characters of mungberan. BARI Mung-2 produced the highest grain yield (1465 kg/ha) and the highest bio-mass (7.91 t/ha) and the lowest grain yield (990 kg/ha) and bio-mass (3.92 t/ha) were obtained by BU Mung-2. Interaction of date of sowing and variety had significant effect on yield and yield contributing characters of mungberan. The highest grain yield (1632 kg/ha) was obtained by BARImung-2 under 10 March date of sowing followed by 1 & 20 March date of sowing and moderate bio-mass but BARImung-2 produced the highest bio-mass (9.16 t/ha) under 30 March date of sowing. The lowest grain yield (826kg/ha) and the lowest biomass (2.50) were obtained by BU Mung-2 under 1 March date of sowing.

Crop-Soil-Water Management
To find out the suitable variety and their optimum date of sowing for higher yield and higher bio-mass production
The experiment was conducted at PRC Ishurdi, Pabna during Kharif-I season of 2004-2005 under rainfed condition. The experimental soil was sandy loam having pH 7.0-7.5. The experiment was laid out in a split -plot design with three replications. Four different dates of sowing e.g. 1st March (T1), 10 March (T2), 20 March (T3) and 30 March (T4)/2003 were placed in the main-plot. Four varieties e.g. BARI Mmung-2 (V1), BARI Mmung-5 (V2), BINA Mung-5 and BU Mung-2 were placed in the sub-plot. The unit plot size was 4m x 3m. Fertilizers were used @ 20-40-20 kg/ha N-P205-K20 as basal dose. Weeding and others plant protection measures were done when necessary. Data were collected from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot and grain yield was recorded from whole plot. Mungbean plants were plough done after 15 days of 2nd harvest. Soil samples were collected before sowing and after plough done of bio-mass for chemical analysis. The recorded data were analyzed statistically and the means were separated by DMRT.

Thirty thousand only
It was developed that BARI Mung-2 under 10-20 March date of sowing is suitable for higher seed yield and Biomass production.
