A field experiment was conducted at PRC, Ishurdi, and Pabna during rabi season of 2005-2006 to evaluate the effect of different management practices on lentil cultivation for higher and economically viable yield. There were nine different management practices e.g. non-priming (T1), priming over night (T2), fertilizer application @ 20-40-20 Kg/ha N-P2O5-K2O (T3), irrigation at pre sowing (T4), irrigation at after sowing (T5), irrigation at 25 DAE (T6), irrigation at 25 DAE + Urea top dressed @ 20 kg/ha of N (T7), P2O5 application @ 40 kg/ha within line (T8) and seed broadcast with general fertilizer dose (T9). Different management practices had significant effect on number of branches per plant, number of pods per plant, 1000 seeds weight and grain yield. The highest grain yield (1558 kg/ha) was obtained by irrigation at 25 DAE + Urea top dressed @ 20 kg/ha N (T7), due to its cumulative influence of yield contributing characters which was identical to T2, T4, T5 ,T6 and T9 and the lowest ( 944 kg/ha) was in non-priming .The highest net return (42340 Tk/ha) and BCR (3.68) were found in broadcast (T9) and the lowest net return (20222Tk/ha) & BCR (2.29) were obtained by non priming.

To evaluate the effect of different management practices on lentil cultivation for higher and economically viable yield.
A field experiment was conducted at PRC, Ishurdi, Pabna during rabi season of 2005-2006 to evaluated the effect of different management practices on lentil for the higher and economically viable yield. There were nine different management practices e.g. non-priming (T1), priming over night (T2), fertilizer application @ 20-40-20 Kg/ha N-P2O5-K2O(T3), irrigation at pre sowing (T4), irrigation at after sowing N (T5), irrigation at 25 DAE (T6), irrigation at 25 DAE + urea top dressed @ 20 kg/ha(T7), P2O5 application @ 40 kg/ha within line(T8) and seed broadcasted with general fertilizer dose (T9). Here, 1-8 treatments, seeds were sown in line, having 25 cm apart but seeds were broadcasted in the treatment number 9.The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. The unit plot size was 3m x 4m. The soil was sandy loam having pH 7.5. Soils were collected before sowing and after harvesting for NPK analysis. The sowing date was 25, November 2005. Fertilizers were used as per treatment. The variety BARI Masur-4 was used and seed rate was 30 kg/ha. Intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. The crop was harvested on 13 March, 2006. Data on yield contributing characters were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot and grain yield (kg/ha) was recorded from whole plot at harvest. All types of variable production costs were recorded to find out the net return and benefit cost ratio. The recorded data were statistically analysised and means values were adjudged by Duncan's Multiple Range Test.
Annual report of Pulses Agronomy,PRC,BARI,Ishurdi,Pabna,2005-2006
Twenty five thousand only
It was found that, seed sowing in line at 25 cm apart with irrigation at 25 DAE + Urea top dressed @ 20 kg/ha of N or seed sown in broadcast with general fertilizer dose(@ 20-40-20 Kg/ha N-P2O5-K2O) is suitable for lentil cultivation for ishurdi region.
